Advantages: Erm...cheap?
Disadvantages: Everything else mostly
This phone is now nearly two years. But that doesn't matter nowadays much, since I see many people who still use K750i, or W800i, which is over 4 years old. I would say this though, this is a low-end phone, and I really don't like it.
I realise it isn't about having the most expensive phone, or the phone with most unbelievable features, and I have reviewed many low-med-range phones. However, I must say this is a phone I genuinely disliked.
The phone is a flip - now generally, Sony Ericsson makes terrible flips, and they don't make many. The main thing that put me off, is the big thick joining point of the upper flip and lower part. It reminds me of the terribly old Motorola V525, and even though that Moto is 3-4 years older than W300i, W300i doesn't prove to be any better.
The front screen is somewhat pleasing however, mono-display showing the track playing or the date. The inside screen which is the main disappointer, of 128x160 pixels, small and horrible. Well, at least it's still a Walkman, and thank God, the memory is expandable through the memory card. Battery life is rather good, and it does have a radio.
Keypad had some faults, and my friends had some too, some weren't very responsive after some time. And the phone is so thick, it is 24mm, and the great N95 8GB which was around 600GBP and is literally a small computer is thinner, at 21mm. The camera is unusable, it is still a VGA camera for God's sake! Really, I mean it's better for you to give a pencil to a 3 year old and ask them to draw it.
The sole factor to cover all these dismay, is the price, which is around 40 GBP now. But with an addition of 10 or 20 more pounds, you will get a much much better deal, like say S500i, or K750i.
Summary: I wouldn't go for it.
