I brought this phone thinking that for the price it would be a good bet. Having used this brand before, I was sorely disappointed with its overall performance after a couple of months use.
Now, the phone itself cost me £59 (from Orange) back in April 2009. When it arrived I was pleased with how compact and lightweight it was. Then I turned it on to discover what else it contained...
On first glance, the menu is well laid out in the same way other Sony Ericsson mobiles are. Everything ok there then.
I tried to set up a ringtone for my phone. This mobile comes with no basic ringtone and I have not been able to download on compatible for it.
Big disappointment, so I made my own.
The text on the main interface is an acceptable size, but when you want to read/write a text does it come out the size of something found on a kids toy?!
I have found this annoying, but can live with it.
The walkman is ok but I have not used this feature much as I've already got an mp3 player with far more space than I need!
My main gripe with this phone is that the software which runs it will crash quite easily upon starting up. This can be hard to fix and will require you to hit the phone against something before you can turn it off. I surprised the thing still works!
In my opinion, the best thing on this phone is the camera! But why buy a phone for its photo taking capabilities? Call me old fashioned, but there is nothing like having separate bits of kit which perform well than 1 piece that does not... There are other camera phones out there that don't cost too much and have better interfaces.
a very good fone fone to use which i once had it has a fm radio which i like always useing when i am on the move and it is good on txting also which makes it very easy for the older people of our day i gave one to my gran for her birthday which she likes very much the only thing that lacks on the sony ericsson is the digital camera it lacks picture quailty and the video is very bad when played back it is not very crispy and is very poor i would say this phone would be good for a child or your gran or some one who is not that good on phones if i would rate this phone it would be a ten out of ten but it is good for your money so if would be good for xmas !!!! ...... .
===Sony Ericsson W302===
Simple yet stylish, the Sony Ericsson W302 is a nice little phone, that fits nicely in the pocket, and is easy on it aswell!
I purchased this about 4 months to this date (September 2009) from 02, this was after my current phone was washed (happens to all of us). I got it for around 60 quid which seemed a baragin! The specs that it offers are good value for money.
Its a Walkman phone so its quite good, mine came with a 512mb card which can hold a few albums. It depends if you are using the phone as your MP3 player aswell, so it may be worthwile looking into getting a bigger card, which isnt alot of money anyways.
Has a standard 2Mp camera, which is quite good to be fair. The qaulity of image is rather good, its not blury and can take decent quality. Has the standard internet, just enough to download some games from, also calendar, calculator ect, nothing overally fancy.
Mine comes in a blue-ish shade colour, looks easy on the eye. Its sleek and small, so its a nice fit in the pocket, i've often thought that i've lost it every now and then but thats just it.
The buttons may be on the small side, but its not as bad as some of the phones out there on the market, its pretty simple. Screen tends to scratch, especially after a couple of drops, but that can be expected of any phone!
This phone is the most reliable phone I've ever had, no problems ever! The programs take next to no time to load, and its been put through its paces for a while now, with drops and falls, nothing ever wrong with it!
===Value for money===
Yes! Very good value for money, its a bargain phone, that (in the unlikely event that its broken) cant be too expensive to replace. Or upgrade in the meantime.
Top phone, cant go wrong with it! Great value for money, no issues ever, nice and simple, does what it does, no fancy unneccesary extras for alot of money! This phone would be perfect for a young teenager, or in fact, anyone! Great phone! Highly reccomended!
A Good phone overall, slim and slick design ,easy to use and perfect for music, mine came with a 512 mb memory card for Free and i store my music for it.Screen is a decent size , only thing i was disapointed by was the fact it didn't support Themes.I even dropped it a few times but it is still fine.
When I decided to buy a new mobile phone there were 4 characteristics that I was looking for (in addition to it being a good phone, with good reception, that doesn't drop calls, etc):
- Candy bar style (I much prefer it to the slide and flip types).
- At least a 2MP camera. I already have a digital camera, so all I need from my phone is the ability to take some reasonable quick photos.
- Good music player, radio.
- Inexpensive. My mobile phones never last very long, for various reasons, so I realised it would be unwise to spend a large amount of money on what is likely to be a short-term investment.
After researching the candy bar phones with the specifications that I was looking for within the price range that I was aiming for, I chose the Sony Ericsson W302.
I would have preferred the black one, but the deal I wanted was with Virgin Mobile, and that meant the silver model, which is exclusive to the network.
I ordered the phone online, and when it arrived and I took it out of the box, I was surprised to find that it wasn't silver all over, just the front. The back is white!
What's up with that? Was it not cost effective to make it all silver (or all white, for that matter)?
So the front is rocking the noble metals look, in silver (with a gold central key) aluminium fascia, and the back is basic white plastic.
I have since seen it called "Sparkling White", which would have been a giveaway, but on the online store I bought it from it was referred to as the "Silver" Sony Ericsson W302.
Anyway, I must say that now I've got used to it and don't even notice it any more, but when I first saw this hybrid look I considered it a flaw that marred an otherwise very aesthetically pleasing handset.
The phone is very small and light: 100 mm tall, 46mm wide and 10.5 mm thick, and only weighs 78g.
The screen measures 2 inches diagonally, and resolution is 176 x 220.
This is a quad-band GSM phone with GPRS and EDGE data.
It has a 20MP internal memory, but it supports memory cards of up to 4GB. It comes with a 512MB card included, which is already inserted.
It records a maximum of 30 calls (received, dialled and missed).
This is a Walkman mobile phone, and the music player is its best feature. It has a good quality sound, and the phone comes with hands free headphones. It supports album art.
There is also FM radio.
The camera is 2MP (1600x1200 resolution). The photos are nice and clear. They don't look much when you see them on the phone's little screen, but once you transfer them to your computer and see them larger, they look fine.
The video function however, is VGA quality, and videos turn out all pixelated.
Therefore, if you want a mobile phone capable of recording good quality videos to keep for posterity, this is not the phone for you, and you should definitely get one with a much higher resolution.
It has a standard, Li-Ion, battery. The battery life is good: Stand by is up to 300 hours (12 days); talk time is up to 7 hours and it plays music for up to 10 hours.
It includes other basic functions such as alarm, personal organiser, flight mode, 3D Java games.
No Wi-Fi, but Bluetooth v.2.0., and it has web browser and email client. An USB cable is also included in the package, so you can connect the phone to your PC.
Sony Ericsson W302
Mobile phones are not a device for calling purpose only, it has changed a lot. Sometime ago we need some good devices for listening music like iPod, for taking pictures like digital still camera. Now these all devices got combined and we can get a little and easily pockatable, light and beautiful solution for our entire requirements like music, mobile call and digital still photography.
Sony Ericsson has W series phones specially dominated for music lovers. W here indicates that this is a walkman phone and walkman word is slightly old and most popular for music lovers as music devices from Sony.
Let's have a look on new walkman series phone from Sony Ericsson, W302. Phone is completely dominated for budget music phone and it is beautifully designed with attractive slim and light body. The most attractive feature of this phone is its 10.5mm thick design. Display size is something different than usual size and it is 176x220 pixels. We know that maximum available games and JAVA applications for mobile phones are available in popular 240 x 320 pixel size. So here we have slightly different display screen than usual.
The next considerable point is its memory size. Sony Ericsson walkman series phones have good internal memory and they also support external card slot. So here is a 20 MB shared memory for JAVA applications, contacts, Messages etc. The good point of memory size is its pre-included 512MB card for enjoying favorite music.
For me, 512 MB card is more enough as I keep only my favorite collection and this is not more than 500 MB. But some peoples may have large collection in their favorite list so they can put some large capacity card also.
Phone is completely dominated for budget music lovers and there is a good quality of sound with included earphone. Phone has inbuilt handsfree also but it doesn't support stereo sound in built in handsfree so we have to listen best quality sound with earphone only. The quality of sound is excellent with mega bass setting in equalizer.
FM radio is become compulsory in almost all phones and specially in music phones. So here also we have good quality FM phone with stereo and RDS support.
For connectivity purpose we have almost all medium level features like GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth and USB.
Camera is not so special as it is an average with 2 MP. Picture quality is not so good but it is only for filling the requirement.
The phone is special for two reasons, one is its beautiful slim and attractive design and other one is its good sound quality. So over all this phone is good for budget music lovers and also has adequate features. S a phone is has good battery life for calling purpose with almost 5 hours, and as a music player it provide similar back-up but it will reduce in video playback by 50%.
Go for it and have a fun.
