Advantages: Style
Disadvantages: Poor construction
My primary reasons for selecting this phone were the flip top, Walkman branding and especially the magic 'invisible' external screen. Unfortunately, the quality of this phone was a real let down. The magic screen stopped functioning for the first time within 6 months of purchase, and after repair lasted only another 6 months. The sound quality from the internal speaker was far inferior to other contemporaneous Sony Ericsson phones, though the external playback buttons were good until the aforementioned problems with the magic screen. Some cracks have appeared on the case, after about 3 years of use, which seems comparable to my previous flip phone (Motorola). Also, the buttons became much less responsive within about a year and a half, and were not very practically laid out in the first place.
Overall, I would not recommend this phone unless you are planning to keep it in a museum; it looks good and has distinctive features, but it does not stand up to daily use.
Summary: Looks good and has nice design features but is impractical and poorly constucted
