Advantages: Lots of features
Disadvantages: Rather bulky
I purchased this phone when it was first released and cost me a fortune - thinking back I cannot quite believe I paid it! Buying a phone has got to be the most difficult task on this planet. Is it slim enough? Will I be able to text ok? How good is the camera and does it have a flash? Does it take external memory cards?
~ The Phone ~
My first impression was at how bulky the handset was but my love for the colour and the unique swivel design made up for that. Also the fact that it was a Walkman phone.
The phone came with a couple of inter-changeable facias so that you can adapt the phone to fit your mood or outfit. Mine came with metallic white and orange but was also available in black and blue.
The handset only has 256 mb built in memory with no slot for you to be able to add a memory card which was a little disappointing seeing as it was really made for playing music but I still managed to fit around 40 mp3s on as well as numerous photos at the highest resolution and text messages.
The sound is amazing, especially being as it was Sony's first release of the Walkman phone. The inner ear phones are really comfortable and do not fall out of your ears - three sets of attachments are included to accommodate all ear sizes and types. The radio is a nice touch too.
~ Applications ~
There are also various other features and applications such as a torch - I found this very handy. We used it when we went camping, during power cuts etc. Also included is a calculator, currency converter, java games (including worms and snowboarding) alarm, world clock and news channel.
There is also mobile internet included but this is very slow and quite hard to operate.
The camera was quite low resolution at only 1.3 mega pixels but offered quite good shots especially in a well light atmosphere. It also features a video camera.
~ Summary ~
I was very impressed with this phone when it was first released but is obviously quite dated against the modern phones of today. It offers everything that I was looking for in a phone but would have liked to have the option to add further memory.
Overall a fantastic phone which you can pick up really cheap now - as long as you don't mind the size of it.
Summary: A good all round phone
