Advantages: Stylish, Good Features, Lasts Forever, The Fitness App.

Disadvantages: Ermm.......Ive Read Its No Longer Available

Before a few days ago I had never written a phone review for Dooyoo before and I wasnt sure whether Id even be any good at it. But since that review Ive had some really positive feedback and some great comments so I decided to give reviewing a phone another go. This "Sony Ericsson W580i" was the phone I had before buying my new one and I did have it for quite some time so god knows why I didnt get around to reviewing it before as it has been on my To-Do list for quite some time and although I may have forgotten about some of the features luckily for me my mom has this phone as well so I still use it quite a bit and it is currently sitting on the computer table next to me in order to try and refresh my memory. This review will probably have the same sort of format as my last phone review as I think that works best but Im shocked to read that this phone might not be available anymore - but Ill be gutted if thats true!

I got this phone for around £70 (but that was quite a while back) from my moms catalogue site Simply Be, I have heard that this phone has now been discontinued but if you have a look around sites like amazon & ebay you will probably be able to buy it very cheaply. This phone is available on contract although I did get it on PayAsYouGo as I simply cant trust myself with a contract phone and it is available on a range of different networks - I personally chose Orange. If you get this phone from somewhere like Phones4U then you will probably be able to get a great package deal with added extras like free texts or calls but if your just getting it from a website like I did your probably only going to get the basics. However I did get a 1GB memory card free with mine which I think is included wherever you buy this model from if you need more memory than that then you will obviously need to upgrade your memory card.

Appearance:
The appearance of this phone is very in keeping with the newer range of Sony Ericssons being very sleek and stylish and it actually looks to be more expensive than it actually is. My phone was actually the pink and sliver colours but it is also available in grey, white and black for those who dont want such a feminine phone. The phone itself is very light and compact and is a slide up design - this can easily fit in your pocket while your out and about without it being obvious that your carrying a phone. All the buttons on this model are clearly marked so you can tell straight away what button does what and what feature it will take you to should you click on it and there are also side buttons such as on that contains your memory card and one that will tell you exactly what percentage your battery is on - the on/off button is also situated on the back of the phone rather than on on of the buttons. Overall I really like the appearance and design of this phone, its pink, sleek, stylish and compact so basically everything I wanted from my phones appearance.

Navigation:
I did find this phone really easy to navigate and even though I have always used Walkmans in the past I think someone that has never used a phone from this brand before will be able to navigate their way around this one with ease. Like I previously mentioned all the buttons on the front of the phone are clearly marked with little symbols so you can see straight away what button takes you to what feature and I think you can even set your buttons to take you to certain features that you personally use most often for example your phonebook. The button on the side tells you exactly how much memory your phone has left to use and how much percentage of your battery is left so you always know exactly when your phone needs to be charged without your battery dying first. The "homepage" is clearly set out with 12 different sections such as: messaging, calls, camera, Walkman, settings & Internet so you can find everything you need with just one click of a button. I dont think I had any problems with navigating my way around this phone at all and it is so easy to do the keys are all responsive and get you to the feature you need straight away with no pause and when you change the settings literally one button gets you to where you need to be so its great for people on the go who dont want to wait around for their phone!

Features:
I have said this in my previous phone review but Im going to repeat myself here. I am not really fussed when it comes to features - dont get me wrong I love having a camera and a Walkman on my phone but the features dont have to be amazing to impress me and this phone won me over with its features because it does have some added sections that Ive never had on a phone before eg the Fitness section which I will mention more later. This is definitely one of the best SE phones for features because even though yes it does have a camera like all the rest this one is better so the features arent exactly ones you wont find anywhere else but for a SE phone they are still pretty great.

The Camera:
Now when I first bought this phone I didnt have a digital camera so I was hoping the camera on this would be pretty decent and I have to say it really is. It is only 2.0 mega-pixels so the images arent as good as they could be but they are still really clear with no blurring and the colours dont look washed out at all. Even if the images dont look to great on the phone when you upload then to Face book or whatever they look great and if I wasnt told I dont think Id be able to tell they wre taken on a mobile phone. The camera for this phone is actually really good and possibly the best on any phone Ive tried and the same goes for the video. It produces really clear images that look great - I dont want any more from a camera really - of course the pictures wont be as a great as a proper camera but they are great for a phone.

The Walkman:
Definitely by far my favourite feature on this phone and really the main reason I bought it as again at the time I didnt own my Ipod. In all the time I had this phone I think I managed to fit about 200 songs on the Walkman and for me I dont need many more than that so the memory for music is great. You can create set play lists fro different occasions like the gym or a party so you choose exactly what you listen to and when because it is so easy to control and navigate much better than lugging around a CD player LOL. For people that listen to music a lot like I do then this phone is a must have because its like having your whole music collection in your back pocket this is a definite must have for music junkies like me.

Messaging:
Theres nothing majorly special about this phones messaging capabilities but as long as it can send a text Im not to fussed. On this phone you can choose to send an ordinary text, a picture message, a voice message or an email I used all of those in the time that I had this phone and they all worked perfectly for me. You can choose to get delivery reports when your message is sent but thats about the only added feature - simple yet effective. Nothing majorly fabulous but it gets the job done.

Calls:
Again nothing special about this feature except that you can receive calls and make calls just fine which basically means the calls are a winner in my opinion. I dont think great added features are necessarily needed in the calls section anyway so SE have kept it simple and it does exactly what it promises. The calls are always clear and you can hear everything people are saying it does the job but again nothing amazing.

Fitness:
Now I thought this feature might be worth mentioning because Ive never had a phone that has had a fitness section on it before. In this section you have Running - which basically tells you how far you have run, how long it took you & how many calories you burnt, Walking - which tell you the distance you have walked, how many steps, what your daily average is and how many calories you have burnt & then there is advanced. This is a sort of separate app.which you basically win medals on depending on how far you walk overall and daily and how far you run & how many calories you have burnt. I really liked this app because I found myself wanting to get to 8000 steps so I could win the next medal so its perfect for people who already exercise and for people who are trying to get into it. A great added extra.

Other Features:
Some of this phones other features include: bluetooth & Internet which I guess are both pretty standard on phones these days but are absolutely great nonetheless I uses the bluetooth on a daily basis so if a phone didnt have it I would not be a happy bunny! The features on this phone are pretty basic as in ones you get on pretty much every phone these days but they are great and they do the trick!

ITS MORE OR LESS INDESRUCTABLE!
I have to add a section on how bloody strong this phone is because it is pretty much indestructible. During this time I had this phone I: dropped it on numerous occasions, dropped it down the toilet on a night out, it fell in the mop bucket while I was cleaning and it was smashed against the wall quite a few times as well and somehow it bounced back every single time and worked perfectly afterwards. It only broke eventually when my brother smashed the screen in so believe me this phone really is a fighter!

Overall Opinion:
I really hope this phone hasnt been discontinued because I was planning on buying another one in the future but if it is still sold I highly recommend it to everyone. Its sleek and stylish, has a great range of features and you can even drop it down the toilet and it wont break! It covers the basics without being extra fancy but manages to add something different with the fitness app. I love it and I really wish mine hadnt broke - highly recommended.
