Sony Ericsson W610i

Design & Feel
The Design of the phone is very nice, it is a very pleasing phone to look at and comes in two different colours. It comes in black and orange which looks very nice or you can go for more subtle colour scheme of silver and black. I have the black and orange because in my opinion that is the better looking colour scheme but both versions are attractive. For some reason Sony Ericsson have opted for very small buttons which are at first hard to use. Although the buttons look good they don't offer the best functionality and do take a little while to get used to pressing as they are very small. The phone is quite small and fairly thin without being ridiculous, it weighs less than ninety grams so it is lightweight and isn't an effort to carry. For a mid range phone the build quality is fairly good and this phone wouldn't break easily if I decided to drop it, also the screen is hard to scratch and I have had no problems with the screen so far as it is nice and big and easy to see.

Camera
The camera on the W610i is 2 megapixels which means you should be able to take printable quality pictures and I am pleased to say it has a pretty good camera. The camera is decent and you don't really need a digital camera if you have a phone like this as it is digital quality and you can put your photos on the pc with the usb cable. Also the camera has many options that you would normally find on a digital camera such as different effects and scene modes. The phones camera can also be used to record video and for this it is reasonable and I have taken a few videos and have been very impressed with the quality that the videos have. The phone has it's own software pre loaded onto the phone so you can use your phone to edit your pictures before you put them on your pc.

Walkman
This phone is the latest in Sony Ericsson's Walkman range and is the successor to the very popular W810i. This phone is built for music and has special keys dedicated to music playback. It is very very easy to use and all you have to do to add music to this phone is plug it into the pc and put music on the phone, it is that easy. It will take various different audio formats which is useful. The phone also comes with a 512mb m2 card so you can fit about 128 tracks onto the phone which is very impressive. Also you can upgrade to a 4gb card and then you will be able to have 1000 tracks on your phone and then it will be your actual mp3 player as well as your phone, digital camera and video recorder meaning you will only need one device because this can do it all to a good standard.

Talk & Text
This is what a phone is for it's the bread and butter for a phone and if the phone can't do these tasks it's not worth having. The sound quality on calls is excellent in my experience and I have never had any problems hearing what has been said even when the signal isn't great and I haven't had any other problems so far. Texting is very easy and you can use normal text or predictive text on this phone and the writing is very easy to read on the screen. Texting is made very simple with this phone and it is easy to text or call and the clarity of calls and speed of texts are very good in my experience. I would recommend getting this phone with vodafone like I have or O2 as they are the best in my opinion.

Other Features
One of my favourite features of this phone is the radio and I use it a lot, the signal on the radio is superb and it can pick up loads of stations on FM. The only downside is that the radio has to be used with the headphones that come with the phone because they act as the aerial. Thephone also has a very powerful torch light which is excellent in dark places, the battery life is very good as well and can last about 2-3 days in real life conditions where you use all the different features in different combinations. Other than a radio and a torch you can do all the normal other things such as play games or organise dates on your calender or do your sums on the calculator. The phone also has internet connectivety although it isn't great.

Overall I am very impressed with this phone and I got it for under £100 on ebay so it is not very expensive either so I would definitely recommend this phone if you want something thats easy to use and very functional. The main reason I bought the phone was the extensive list of quality features that it has which are very impressive.

A nice review but I wonder about how good the battery life of this phone is. I had a Sony Ericsson until just recently and found it to be very good on a non-camera model, but my son has a Sony Ericsson with a camera and the battery died completely and had to be replaced.
