Advantages: Everything W800i

Disadvantages: Everything W800i

I'm confused here... isn't this the same handset as W800i? Isn't it the same phone with different model name? If so, why did this come out? The only difference I could tell, is the colour of it, where W700i is golden-brown, and W800i is white with bright orange details. So why a new model for different colour? Or is there something else hidden from the eye?

I set out to find out.
W700i was released around a year later the most famous W800i first walkman handset. At the time of W800i's reign, where success was near perfection, there wasn't much space for W800i's improvement and it didn't need it. W800i is equipped with great 2MP camera (great resolution pictures), walkman player, nice keypads, perhaps slightly fiddly navigational pad, easy to use-user interface, FM radio, expandable memory, bluetooth, infrared etc. All these features are found in identical packages in W700i.

Everything is the same, the size and the features, the only thing different, is like I said, the colour, and the times of their release. So did SONY really bring out a new model because of its colour?

No, there was just one addition to W700i. This was HSCSD, which is basicallly an enhancement of the GSM mobile transmission system. I do not know how much of an improvement this provided the users, as I know W800i, had no problems. So I'm guessing, there wasn't really anything significantly different to W700i, except the colour...which by the way, I do not prefer to W800i.

Summary: A twin to W800i... unnecessary twin
