Advantages: Good Size, Plenty of features
Disadvantages: Buttons are bit small
For the last 12 months or so I have been using the Samsung D500 which has served me very well indeed. When I go looking for a phone I do not go looking for the one with the best features, I go looking for the one with the best features out of the sturdy phones, some of the more flimsy ones would not last 5 minutes at work in my pocket.
So out of the choices I had I chose the Sony Ericsson W810i, and having had it for a day I am impressed. There are a few niggles I have with it, but on the whole I think it is going to be a good choice.

Right now down to my product review, The phone is a good size, not to small and not to large. It is lighter than I would have expected for it's size, I am hoping this does not mean it is weaker than some of its heavier counterparts.
The navigation buttons are somewhat awkward, even with small hands so this is not the phone for someone with large hands. The screen resolution is crystal clear and the sounds, especially the music are some what breathtaking for a phone.
The menu system is easy to follow and understand meaning you do not really need to read the manual to find your way about the phone.
The big plus's of this phone are obviously the earphones which allow you to use the phone as an mp3 player with its 512mb upgradeable memory as well as allowing you to listen to the radio via the phone. T
his is going to make this the phone of choice for people who want music on the move without having to carry around another piece of electrical equipment as well as their phone.
I also like that fact this phone has Infra Red as well as blue tooth, I personally hate the way many phones dropped the Infra Red port when blue tooth became available.
I do however have a few gripes, the first being the keys, they do not make this phone an sms friendly phone, even for a small fingered person which will be a sticking point in this phones success with most people wanting their phone specifically for texting. My other gripe was a firmware issue, when creating a new folder on the phone for storing photos you could not then remove the folder via the phone. You would have to connect to the computer and do it via your pc, I thought it a little daft not being able to delete folder yet you can create them.
All in all I am very happy with the phone and it is a step up from my Samsung D500.
Summary: All in all I am very happy with the phone

- 18/09/07 This is a good start, but I think you can do better than this, since I see most of the review is a list of its specifications. Read some other reviews in the same category - especially the ones with crowns - to see the type of detail we look for here. Do let me know if you decide to revise it, and best of success here on DooYoo. |
