Advantages: Packed with reliable features that are easy to use
Disadvantages: None
I have always been somewhat of a mobile phone addict, having to have the best model, the most up to date and the one with the most features and this has always been a pet hate with my partner and when it came to upgrading 2 years ago I knew I had to get a phone to last as my last upgrade was awful and I ended up selling it on ebay and purchasing another phone from a friend so I wanted to go for something that was easy to use and offered a great deal of extras.
For many years I had always opted to have a Nokia model as I found them easy to use, modern and sleek but the last model I had was chunky and too advanced for it to cope with and couldn't cope doing the most basic function of making a phone call so I made sure that this time round I got some recommendations.
*~*About Sony Ericsson*~*
Sony Ericsson was formed in 2001 a joint venture of Sony Corporation and Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson.
The company is owned equally by Ericsson and Sony and announced its first joint products in March 2002.
*~*The Phone*~*
For this review I am going to get right to the facts nothing about the colour or shape of box it comes in just how good the product actually is and to be honest I would be hard pushed to find a phone as reliable and good as this.
*~*Features*~*
The main function of course of a mobile phone is to make and receive calls, this phone certainly does this. Calls are clear and its very rare that I get a call with any disturbance.
The talk time stated is up to 8 hours, I cannot clarify how accurate this is but the phone only needs to be charged once a week for my level of usage which is limited to a few short phonecalls throughout the week.
The main advantage to this phone is the mp3 player that is within the phone the orange button to the top left that you can see on the picture above is how you can access the mp3 menu directly and play songs from your favourite artist and what makes it easy to transfer the tracks is the Disc2Phone software which loads onto your pc and allows you to transfer tracks straight from a music CD or computer hard drive to your mobile phone it really is easy to use.
It is worth noting that this button even when the keypad is locked can still be activated in silent mode which can be a little embarrasing and could be the only design fault in my personal opinion.
The phone also has the Sony Walkman Mega Bass feature so that bass frequencies are enhanced providing your favourite tracks loud and clear through headphones that are provided with the phone or external speakers.
The phone has a memory of 20mb and it also comes with a memory stick that will provide a further 4GB of memory!!
The phone also has a camera built in, I rarely use this but a great feature that is provided is that you can edit the pictures and add a background giving fun and funky images that can be saved to the background of your phone or as a screensaver.
The camera is 2 mega pixels and has a zoom of 4x which comes in handy, for those moments where you wish you had your camera. Make sure you have steady hands though as the pictures can come out blurry if you move the camera when capturing the shot.
What is a good feature with this phone is that you turn it horizontally and use as you would a normal camera with a press button on the top to capture the shot.
For photographs in darker locations there is a camera light which I have not ever used only for its torch function.
There really is lots packed into this little phone, the torch comes in handy for badly lit paths or if the electric blows suddenly and you can't get to the torch under the sink safely...actually come to think about it this is the only torch that we have!
The phone also has a text messaging facility which allows you to add smileys to your text and also use multi media messaging to insert music, images and video clips.
The phone has blue tooth, Infrared and modem to allow you to communicate further which is a great feature as this allows you to share files between other phones within a short distance away.
The organiser contains a calculator, calendar, stopwatch, timer and notes facility. The calculator is great for splitting a bill at a restaurant and the calendar for keeping tabs on important dates whilst you are on the move.
The wap feature is great allowing you to access google from whereever you are and get directions from google maps and answer that question that is driving you and your friends mad.
The wap feature is a bit intermittent but I generally only use it to download the free backgrounds and games for my phone or if I am lost and need some help with directions.
Personally this phone is more to me than a phone it is a little gem, helping me out of many situations.
It is one of the best phones that I have had in terms of battery life and it is very robust, despite being dropped a few times, one of those was on my stone kitchen floor it is still in one piece and operating just as efficiently and I have now had it for 2 years.
The phone is easy to use and really is a great addition to your pocket.
At first I found it small and chunky but now I find it a great phone for anyone to use and I still manage to lose it in my handbag, I am now converted to Sony Ericsson and think that my next phone if I EVER upgrade will be to a more modern version of what I already have.
Summary: A fantastic phone that will be hard to improve!
