Advantages: Still good features, Extremely well built and good looking
Disadvantages: Is a little dated nowadays in terms of features
I used to change my Mobile Phone's once my contract was up every year, before I got this phone my previous phones were the Sony Ericsson K750 and the Sony Ericsson T610 so to say im a Sony Ericsson fan would be an understatement I think they're the BMW of Phone Makers, they make solid, reliable and sometimes innovative Mobiles.
So over 2 years ago I got this phone on contract and for various reasons ended up keeping it for over two years and as such think I am able to write a review not based on its functions and features, but also its longevity and reliability.
This phone was released in April 2006 as the successor to the W800, it took all the great features of that phone and improved on them with things like quad band connectivity, Edge Support and a larger improved screen display, the only draw back was supposed shorter battery life but I have never had a complaint about the Battery life of my phone as I regularly went 4 or 5 days without having to plug it into the Wall.
Some of the phones other features are an Internet Browser, a 2 Megapixel Camera which actually takes pretty decent pictures, 20MB of internal memory ( which can be upgraded to 4GB by using an optional Memory Stick Duo card , and one of the nicest features is the ability to use it as a fully functioning Walkman device and turn all the phone features off, which is great as it allows you to still use it in places where normally a Mobile would have to be turned off such as hospitals and Planes.
One thing Sony Ericsson did was do away with the Joystick from the previous W800 and other phones as it was prone to stop working as dust would build up, instead they replaced it with an easy to use D-pad which I can tell you after over 2 years of intense use still works as perfectly as the day I bought the phone.
Call quality is good and as usual with Sony Ericsson phones it feels solid and when dropped ( which happens alot with me ) it still will continue to work, my only complaint is that after a period of time the Camera button on the side of the phone would intermittently stop working and you would have to take pictures using one of the other buttons on the phone, however my phones take some serious abuse and im surprised it lasted as long as it did and anyone with any kind of respect for their phones or who keep them in cases should not have this kind of problem.
Overall this phone while now not being anywhere near cutting edge, would be the kind of phone that still offers good features and if someone is looking for something solid and reliable you can pick these up cheap even without a contract, would be a great phone for someone who maybe is a little harsh on their phones and doesn't want to lose hundreds of pounds if it breaks ( which it won't !! )
Summary: a great phone for someone on a budget who still likes to have some nice features
