Advantages: Great looks, connection quality, mp3-player, 1Gb memory card

Disadvantages: No IR port, no FM radio, the camera is crap

First af all I must admit I'm a Sony Ericsson fan. I used to have that dodgy yellow flip phone from Ericsson, I used to have their smallest-mobile-phone-ever, then, after they collaborated with Sony, I used to have the K500, then K700, then I gave the K800 as a present to my boyfriend, and finally I got the W880 for myself.

What can I say about the W880i... I got it from Vodafone in Havana Gold colour and it just looks absolutely, completely and totally amazing. I could have finished the review at this point, because I really don't care about anything else when I see a phone like this - I just want it. But if you don't chose a phone by its looks only, here are some sane arguments pro and contra.

It's one of the thinnest and lightest phones on the market. The buttons may seem strangely shaped and unhandy, but they're not! At least for a girls hands.

The conection quality is good, nothing else to say here.

The battery could be better, it lasts about 3 days, maybe even less if you listen to music a lot. But it's the price you pay for the thin shape.

The main speaker is a small ventage and it's just too weak. The ring volume is too low when the phone lies with its speaker down. But the polyphony quality is great and you can use any mp3 file as a ringtone.

The mp3 player is really cool. Very handy, and the sound quality is surprisingly good. The earphones have these "anti-noise" rubber caps, and it really works. The only drawback is the download speed - could be faster! But still I find it ok to replace my old mp3-player with the W880i.

I love the way this phone deals with multiple applications. You can minimize every application: the mp3 player, a game you're playing, anything. It's very handy.

The built-in camera is just 2 megapixels and it's crap. Sony Ericsson divided all their phones into "photo-phones" and "music-phones". This one is "music", that's all.

There is a cool application, the Music Mate. It's the music-phone, right? So the Music Mate has a built-in tuner to tune your guitar, a chord finder and a metronome. Handy!

The menu is just the same SE menu you find in most SE phones. One thing I hate about it is that Vodafone placed their Vodafone Live! icon in the main menu. I hardly ever use it. Another useless thing in the main menu is the Video Call icon.

Overall, the W880i is user-friendly and looks cool - what else would one want from a mobile phone?

Summary: For me there's just no choice - it's the best one!

Nice review. I just wonder if you can hear the calls and they can hear you well with this phone.

I see people are saying there's a problem with updating miles. I'll message the powers that be here, but since it is a holiday, I don't know if anyone can do anything about it right now.
