After the releasing of Apple iphone Sony has encountered tough competition with its walkman series phone. Before iphone Sony Ericsson was the king of music phones, but now the real competition starts and fully featured phone has been released. Nokia is also struggling to get status in music category phones. So in this competition period we have seen some good models of music phones in recent years. Sony Ericsson has launched it new fully featured music phone W960 in December 2007, and it is upgraded version of previous model W950, with adding some extra features like Wi-Fi connectivity, camera and doubled of memory size.

Now this phone is a higher level fully featured, so its price also very high and how it will deal with its value, I will discuss here briefly about its features with advantages and disadvantages also.

Design and look
First of all have a look on its design and display, phone is measured with 109 x 55 x 16 mm, and heaving a weight of about 120gm. Phone is slightly larger with compare to earlier walkman phones but is has been loaded with many good features so it doesn't matter at all.

Display
Display size is about 240 x 320 pixels, 2.6 inches of diagonal with 256K colors TFT touch screen. Resolution of screen is slightly lower than Nokia phones but it has been provided due to its touch screen facility. The touch screen concept here put to close rival with Apple iphone, but in the matter of resolution it failed to compete with excellent resolution of iphones.

Memory
Next important feature is its memory size and it is completely compete with Nokia N95 8GB phone, with 8 GB of installed memory, excellent capacity for DATA storage but it doesn't have any card slot. Here card slot is not a big matter because it already have better inbuilt memory size. And the other mportant feature here is it has excellent 128MB of RAM size to provide better speed and accessibility But this phone goes slow when internal memory is fully loaded with music or DATA, so the good RAM here also get some problem to provide fast speed.
This phone also has reserved 256 MB flash memory for internal applications, messages and contacts storage, not a big matter but it is more or good with compare to other phones.

Connecivity
Now the fully loaded features in this phone is in terms of connectivity and it provide almost all connectivity solutions like 3G (that is more important feature in this phone). GPRS, Bluetooth, WI-Fi 802.11b, and USB connectivity with high speed 2.0, but there is no EDGE connectivity here.

Music and Music
Now the excellent feature of this phone is its Walkman player with superb sound quality and I think Sony Ericsson provides best sound quality in phones and I am fond of Walkman series phone due to its superb music player. The equalizer facility also available in handsfree with Bass or mega bass feature. And the megabass ofwalkman player provides excellent experience of sound in phones. Phone also has a dedicated walkman key for instant access to music player.
And the most compulsory feature in any phone called FM radio that is also available with stereo FM radio having RDS facility.

Camera
Now the discussion about camera and I am satisfied with its camera 3.15 MP, 2048x1536 pixels, having autofocus feature, and this type of camera with more than 3MP with autofocus facility is a good camera in any phone. Photography is not meant with mobile camera and there is not a satisfactory results with point and shoot camera also so that it is a feature of time pass but not for a good resolution pictures.

Power Back-up
Battery life is satisfactory but not so good, with having Standard battery, Li-Po 900 mAh (BST-33), it is lithium polymer battery and something better than Lithium ion battery, claim 9 hours of talktime but as practically you won't be able to get more than five hours of talktime. In music player the back-up time will be less than talktime.

Bottom line
Over all it is excellent music phone with 3G capability and touch-screen facility with excellent 8GB of storage space and Wi-Fi support. Price is also less than iphone but phone is not less than iphone. Recommended.

Summary: Good quality phone with almost all important features and most impoetant its walkman player.
