Advantages: Touch screen and keypad, biggish screen, 8gb
Disadvantages: No 3.5mm jack, hands-free adapter is poor
I have had quite a few Sony Ericsson Walkman phones over the years; W810i, W950i, and the most recent one was this, the W950i. The features it boasts are the touch screen, regular keypad, walkman software, 8gb memory and unlike its predecessor has two cameras (one for video conferencing and one for taking normal photos.
I purchased this phone, as I liked the idea of having a keypad and touch screen; meaning you can have all touch screen functionality for navigating through menus, but you also have normal keypad to quickly make phone calls and sent texts. This phone did give me this, so it is a good feature of the phone.
The UIQ3 operating system on the phone doesn't really give this phone justice. It makes the phone feel sluggish when looking through different apps, and just cannot multitask very well at all.
The walkman software on the other hand performs very well making looking through and listening to your music collection simple and easy. The only issue I had was that it takes a long time to process lots of music, but this is expected when you are processing 1000s of songs. All the Sony Walkman phones have "Track ID" which when music is played to it, will tell you the name of the song. This is very useful on nights out when a song is playing. I was on orange, so I could not use this, but there is an alternative called "Shazam".
The 8gb memory provides lots of room; roughly about 2000-4000 songs.
The main problem with this phone, and with all other walkman phones (minus the w995); there is no 3.5mm jack for normal headphones. This seems ridiculous on a phone made for music, but it is sadly the case. The handsfree adapter doubles up as an adapter for 3.5mm headphones, but is very temperamental and tends to fall out very easily.
This phone has its good and bad features; but I would probably avoid it with so many phones having the same features and more!
Summary: A decent phone, but keep loooking
