After finally receiving this phone after I sent my unimpressed Samsung u900 back, I have to say this by a long shot is the best phone I have ever had. Now I have been with Samsung for years and always stayed loyal to them getting the newer model each time my contract was up but after several problems over the past 8 months and after trying out the u900 and not liking it at all, I decided now was the time to make the jump. This phone is definitely one of those that is better looking in the flesh, as it were. The front is a sleek, almost mirror like, black plastic which looks amazing but sadly scratches very easily. It also allows one touch activation of the music player which is an excellent feature (also one that can be easily switched off so that it doesn't accidently start working while it's in your pocket as I've had happen with other phones). Ok, I'll admit it, I am a Sony Ericsson girl, when its time for my upgrade, that is the brand I look straight to and they really haven't let me down with this phone. This phone is more an MP3 player with a phone attached, it comes with some of the best earphones on the market which use the "marshmallow" shaped buds which cancel out background noise so all you hear is the music which is superb for a phone, there isn't any tinny sounds or anything like that when its playing. This is a superb handset and I've had it for over 5 months now. If you are an O2 customer you also get the option to own the slick red version. The sound quality is amazing and Sony seem to have improved the design of the earphones for this model. The online images of the W980i make the handset appear wider and more chunky than it actually is: the handset is in fact not quite as wide as the old iPod mini and when folded fits very comfortably in any pocket. Its first looks would make you feel that it would open sideways kust like a laptop. But in actual its a flip top walkman series phone courtesy Sony Ericsson. The phone has a screen size of 2.2 inches which has TFT display. There is a secondary display i.e. the external TFT display measuring 176*176 pixels.
