Quick Summary: FANTASTIC...With minor niggles.
I'm a 19 year old Male, and I love my W995. I have the phone on an 24 month contract with Vodafone and I use it for texting and calling every day. It is very easy to use, with the usual, simple Sony Ericsson software, which has been improved slightly from the last SE I had (K800i) and I am very happy to say that it is a lot faster plowing through the menus.
I have reasonably sized fingers, so texting on it isn't much of a problem for me, although I know that my dad, who has quite big, stubby fingers, would find it very hard to type a text on it effectively, and would resort to using his finger nails, which isn't comfortable!
The quality of phone calls is good, and there are volume buttons on the side of the phone, so when you are on a call and need to turn up or down the volume, it is rather easy to do. Although, the buttons are quite small and do have to be pushed in with your finger nail, but I got used to that after a while.
One huge luxury the phone has is Wi-Fi! And it works very well as long as you are in reasonable distance of the router you are trying to connect to. It works fantastically in my house, but has trouble obtaining a strong signal in some instances like at University, in a lecture theatre.
The camera is brilliant, it is 8.2 mega pixel, and I know pixels don't mean everything, but it gives a good, crisp and clear image, although the flash is quite poor (Doesn't compare to the SE K800i flash).
My W995 came with an 8gb memory card, which was really good as I have stored a lot of my music on so I can listen to on the move if I haven't got my iPod with me. The sound quality is very good, as you would expect from a Sony Walkman phone, and thankfully, there is a standard headphone socket at the top of the phone, so you can use your own headphones (although you do get a pair of SE headphones with the phone, but they plug in to the battery port, which is annoying as it is a big bulky plug).
Overall, the phone is fantastic. You don't have to be looking for a Walkman phone to get it. I got mine because I wanted a modern, normal phone, after disliking the current touch screen phones, and I am more than pleased. It is by no means an iPhone, but I really love my W995 and I am more than happy with having it for 24 months.
Summary: A great all-rounder!
