Oh, the hype for the Sony X1! I didn't think anything would face the hype of an Iphone, but Xperia did it - all the geeks and phone lovers were waiting for this baby for a long time.

And it came, glistening in full metal case, beautiful large wide screen, touch scrolling, and slide out qwerty keypad, 3.2mp camera, Windows mobile.

BUt was it worth all the hype? I think the biggest let down for me was being introduced to Windows Mobile. 500Mhz of X1 could not run Windows Mobile smooth enough - how disappointing. WM is the hardest OS to use, everything is fiddly, buggy and slow. Only thing that separates is the Xpanel, which isn't very fast either - though it looks sleek. Once you realise that you can't get used to the OS, and that it's slow and potentially it won't improve, you can't use the phone.

That is exactly what happened - I half-wished X1 had Symbian instead, at least then things would be quick with its 500Mhz processor. X1 was a let down for me big time, especially with its hype and looks, and its price of hefty 500pounds.
