I had always been a Nokia phone user, up until I spotted this phone in the window of a Vodafone shop! I went ahead and bought the phone, and was quite pleased with it at first. It did everything like it should. It was very easy to use from the off, and easy to navigate. Sadly, it's the navigation that annoyed me after some months. The thumbstick started to only work intermittently, meaning many presses to make it respond until finally, the thumbstick stopped working altogether. In November 2004, after being a loyal user of the Nokia 3310 for several years, I decided to upgrade my mobile phone for something more trendy and hi- tech. I wanted something that was (then) up-to-date and included lots of features but didn’t want to splash out much more than £150 on it either. I also wanted something on a Pay As You Go tariff. This made the whole process of choosing a phone quite tedious. The Sony Ericsson F500i came at a reasonable cost (£120, but can be found for around £90 these days) but was only available on one network; Vodaphone.
