Advantages: All in one organiser phone, Great functionality, Multiple flip modes
Disadvantages: Battery life, Jog dial glitches
This phone is great as a phone and organiser combined. I used it to replace my IPAQ and I think it will work fantastically for my needs. It synch perfectly with MS Outlook and faithfully replicates all Contacts, Calenders, Notes and Tasks (you choose which to replicate). You can get shareware/freeware that also customises the calenders further so you have them as your desktop on the phone (Handyday). The calender is just like outlook with snooze functions to the reminders, and whether you enter a contact in the phone or you PC it syncs beautifully so both are up to date. Sony have also got a freeware application for VIEWING Office documents, which I have so far only tried on pdf and excel documents, but works great, although only with read only functionallty. The flip open/closed/removed modes are great for really customising the phone to the way you use it. (I like the flip removed). The camera and graphics are great for a phone, and the mp3 player is also very good, compared to other phones I've had. There are probably only a few disappointments. I've discovered to date: 1. This is not a machine for Excel type functionality - there are spreadsheet programs, but the screen is so tiny (in this respect) that you'd get frustrated using it. I have tried, and decided that it really wasn't needed, unless I wanted to read information only (e.g. price lists etc.) 2. The jog dial can stop working at times, and this means that to unlock the phone (in no flip/open mode) you have to take out the battery. I believe it's a software fault, since Carphone Warehouse just upgraded my software telling me that should do the trick (it hasn't). Not sure if others have experienced this problem. 3. The battery life is around 1 day if used sparingly, otherwise by the end of the day, my phone would normally need recharging. (altho I have it charging in its sync cradle) To date this phone is excellent for me. It'
s even got a currency converter program for downloading. It easily replaced my Nokia and IPAQ and the bulge is not nearly so bad!
