Advantages: cool sounds, great screen

Disadvantages: Covers, Menu navigation, buttons

With the breakage of my nokia 3330, it was time to get a "make do" phone for a while. With that in mind, ny brother donated me his old T300 Sony Ericsson.
Now it has been some time since I owned a Ericsson and the addition of Sony echnology seems to have dragged their sorry looking phones into the 21st century.
What do I mean by that?
Well, anyone that has owned an Ericsson (like I did) in the last 10 years will know they had all the ergonomics of a brick. Thick aerials that poked you in the leg, ugly bulky buttons, the lack of customisation, etc....
So it was with great pleasure I welcomed this phone into my house.
however, i would not say its the most modern looking phone on the market. In hact it has a lot of similarities to the 33X0 generation of the Nokia phones. Perhaps borrowing stylings in an effort to win back buyers?
I dont know.Im only speculating...

Whats great about it?
The screen for a start. This is my first colour screen phone and im very impressed. Much bettre for texting and reading messages on. It is also great for sending and recieving pictures on. In fact, it can also be hooked up to a phone cam for taking pictures. However, this is seperate and needs to to buy it at a cost of £200!!!

Its also nice to have a phone with decent ringtones which you can download. This is better than the single tone Nokias that sound like ZX Spectrum games. Proper tunes for a proper phone.

The auto Keylock.Fantastic. Rather than ordering pizzas in Taiwan in my pocket, the auto keylock turns itself on and prevents accidental dialling. It seems pretty hard to turn off by accident too. Handy for forgetful people....

Stand by time? It claims 350 hours but im not so sure. However, im very impressed. One good charge will last me 4 or 5 days! That is handy if I leave my charger ar work over the weekend. Even with a good bit of conversation it goes on and on.

Sound quality. Fantastic. Nice and
loud and very clear. Ideal for when you are in a noisy environment. There is little break up in signal too. Compared to my nokia, this is much inproved.

now for the bad points...

Menu navigation.
The little 4 way joystick button is a pain to use. The sensitivity is a bit strong and you end up pressing the wrong way easily. For someone with big fingers, I would say it is impossible to use. as are the tiny numbers to press. Dialling could be difficult.

Accessories.
Very limited. Forget about replacement covers. Its back to Ericsson thinking again. You are stuck with the one it comes with im afraid so no personalisation available here.

Overall.

A very functional phone with great sounds and vision. Shame about the navigation and covers!
