Advantages: Featured packed

Disadvantages: not that good looking

I know it's a bit late to write an op on this phone, because the T310 is now out, but on the other hand these phones are going really cheap now and I think are a great bargain.

I've owned this phone for about 6 months now. I bought it on a T-Mobile contract (Freetime 750 @ £13.99/month )and paid £1 for the phone, zoom camera, mp3 player attachment, radio attachment, laser pen attachment and blue torch attachment. The extras alone are worth over £100 so it was quite a bargain in my view.

My previous phone was a Nokia, and like every other person's Nokia that i know, it broke. The screen died and i promised never to buy another unless they get more reliable.

For such a feature-packed phone it may be strange to say that the joystick is the best thing; but i think it is. The joystick is characterisic of Sony Ericsson phones. The 5D movement of the joystick helps you navigate menus very easily and I think i will miss it if i were ever to buy another Nokia.

A main selling point of this phone is its picture messaging capability. It is only possible to send picture messages with the camera attachment of course.
Pictures taken with the camera show up on the screen like a horrific mess to be honest, but once transferred to computer (by datacable, infra-red or e-mail) look quite good.

The 256 colour screen is a breath of fresh air from older monocolour phones but isn't anything stunningly good. That said, the phone wouldn't be the same without it and it does make the overall 'phone experience' a little more enjoyable.

Another big selling point for the T300 is its 24-channel polyphonic ringtones. They sound great. When you can hear them. They are easily drowned out by the slightest of noise - that's why vibration alert should always be turned on with this phone. Music recorded from a keyboard can be played on this phone, so if you play the keyboard you may well fancy it.

I do use
WAP a lot on my phone. I don't know how popular WAP is in general, but I use it a lot to check footie scores and download ringtones and games for free. The T300 has the latest WAP version if you're into it, and is also GPRS capable if your network provides it.

The battery life of this phone is tremendous. I charge it once a week and usually make around 2.5 hours of calls and send 20 txts in a week. I don't know how that compares but if you are to believe the booklet I got with it, it beats nearly every phone in its class.

Text messaging is a standard affair. It does have the T9 predictive text thingy but i find it annoying as hell. Otherwise its quick and easy and it's possible to store loads and loads of txts in the phone's dynamic memory.

Many people complain about the small amount of memory that the T300 has and the way it gets used. I have 16 extra pictures and 3 extra games than those pre-loaded o, around 50 contacts saved and around 20 saved text messages and I still have plenty room left to save more stuff. So in my experience there isn't a problem with a lack of memory.

Extra features that I haven't mentioned that are pretty ordinary:
Exchangable front cover (not back)
Calendar (saves events and gives reminders)
Alarm
Stopwatch
Calculator
Games (extra ones can be downloaded and they are quite good but get boring like every other mobile game)

In summary: a nice colour phone jam-packed with features for very little money.
