Advantages: good photos , small, easy to use
Disadvantages: screen can be hard to see in bright conditions, Night mode on camera, poor
A small and easy to use mobile/camera phone… Sony Ericsson T610 Having always used Nokia mobile phones I was a little reluctant to say the least about swapping for another brand but I did and I can’t complain about the T610. The phone it’s self has a large colour display which uses 65000 colours compared with 4096 used by most other makers, Nokia included. The quality of the screen when compared to other makes is easily noticeable. The main menu on the phone is set up like icons on your home computer and for even the most inept mobile phone user it’s simple to use. The T610 has all the features found on all phones, Phone book, personal organiser, Games, different polyphonic ring tones. The phone book allows names to be added to photographs and to assign different ring tones for each caller. The phonebook also lists the name, home telephone, mobile telephone, work telephone and E=mail address of the contact and this is all on the same screen. The T610 personal organiser contains a calendar, notepad, alarm, timer, stopwatch and calculator. The calendar can be broken down to view individual days and a schedule can be devised with a reminder facility. The settings and calls menu are as per other phones except you can choose your own wallpaper or screensaver simply by downloading or taking a picture with the phones built in camera. The camera is situated at the rear of the phone and is of excellent quality during the day, of nighttime a night mode can be switched on but to be honest its poor and the quality of the pictures are equally as bad. The camera has different settings, these being negative, black & white and sepia (it makes the picture look really old) The camera has self timer so you can be in the photos but I still haven’t worked out how the camera will stay up without a tripod but it has the facility. The camera can operate a zoom facility without losing clarity. The T610 has
blue tooth technology and an MP3 player and a radio can also be purchased and surprisingly they are really good quality. The T610 has the ability to surf the Internet and has many other features that involve computers but as I know nothing about them I can’t really review them. The T610 can record telephone conversations quite handy if you get a nasty customer services rep on the end of the phone. The T610 has the ability to compose its own tunes and this is so easy, I tried composing my own tunes on my old nokia phone but it was so complicated I never used it but the T610 is a doddle. Overall the T610 is small easy to use, stylish and has a great camera built in camera, this is a great alternative to the two a penny nokia phones that everyone seems to buy.

- 08/09/03 I am v tempted to get this phone. Although i hear that it does not have an anti-reflective screen. So apparently the display is almost unreadable in bright sunlight. Can anyone confirm this?? |

- 04/09/03 Great review. I've got a photo phone and love the fact that the graphics are really good. What I don't love is that it costs £5 a time to download games! Well done for a thorough op :o) |

- 04/09/03 Hi Tabster,
I really want this phone, and reading this review, has made me want it even more. But spending £199 is a bit too much for me. Will wait for the price to drop a bit first. Great review though! |
