Advantages: VERY good photos, Plenty of tones+games, nice big display screen
Disadvantages: Can't delete preset pictures, Scratches kinda easily, No camera flash
My first ever phone was all the way back when I was 12 and I got the Ericsson T1018 or something or other free on the coca cola promotion! This was alright, but then I was persuaded to Nokia. In the 4 years that followed I had a 402, 3210, 7110 and 3110, and I'd never been truely satisfied with any of them! Then came the next generation of mobiles, which could take pictures and all the rest of it! I was going to happily settle for a Sagem or the Nokia 3510i, basically if it had a coloured screen, it had a chance! So along I skipped to the local phone shop and enquired about buying a 3510i. But then something caught my eye! "FREE Sony Ericsson T610 - 333 texts per month for 6 months and 300 free orange toorange minutes per month - £30 per month" Now, I'm not one of these who changes their phone for the sake of it, and to be honest I'd never head of the T610, but when the girl behind the counter let me have a go on hers, I was hooked! This phone was soooooooo funky! So I had to have it! I signed the contract and away I went. I put it on the compulsory 16 hour charge, admittedly I hardly put it down for any of that time when I was awake. Got up the next morning and skipped along to college, taking pictures of anything that I could, which takes me to my first point of review! PICTURES The pics on the T610 are the best I've seen on a mobile phone! Not only does the large screen allow for a bigger picture, but they all seem very colourful! The only down side being that it doesn't have a flash which would come in very handy! All pictures taken can be set as the background in a similar fashion to a computers desktop. Unfortunately some of the preset pictures cannot be deleted, and as I was on an orange phone I was stuck with cartoons of a little red box, presumably a devil, chasing cheese and stuff, which I'd rather not have if it meant I could save more pictures!
TEXT MESSAGING The phone supports T9 text (predictive) and normal "olde stylee" text messaging! It's also very good in that it remembers the words you use most often. For instance your name or a place name will come above a lesser used verb or noun. The phone can hold roughly 50 texts, but it saves every text you send, which can get annoying if you text alot like me. There's a handy counter built into the phone which counts how many text messages you have sent since you last reset the counter. GPRS INTERNET The "WAP" service on the T610 appears quite good at first sight, but the new small Siemens phone that folds down has a much quicker connection it seems. RINGTONES Polyphonic ringtones on this phone are good! I've got roughly 30 of my own tones on the phone and it still isn't full! CONNECTIVITY The phone has 3 methods of connectivity, Bluetooth, Infrared and Datacable. BLUETOOTH I haven't had the chance to use this yet as I'm still waiting for my dongle to come through from ebay. INFRARED Infrared is good on these phones and enables file sending between phones and phone > pc much cheaper and easier. Overall I'm thrilled with my phone and don't regret buying it!
