This phone was announced in 2004, and at the time was very popular. It is small and very cute, comes in a great range of colours including but not only, baby pink, blue and black. It easily fits in any small places unlike the smart phones of today which are often bulky and heavy. The screen is a mirror when not lit up and this is very handy for both men and women on the go who like to look good! However, despite the perks of it's small size and vanity enabling features, it cannot be denied that compared to the phones of today, particularly smart phones such as BlackBerrys and the iPhone, this phone is pretty much useless. It is not easily useable on the internet, the camera is poor to say the least, the screen graphics are basic, and it has no substantial memory capacity let alone the technology to play video's or listen to music for a long time. I also remember it dropping calls often and was poor at receiving signal. AVOID
This is a lovely looking little phone. As soon as I saw it in the shop over 2 years ago I fell in love with it and still love it now - although I have to admit that it does have quite a few problems.
The phone is tiny and can easily fit in bags, pockets, etc. Although it can be too small as sometimes I can't find it in my bag for ages! It comes in a few different colours including baby pink, mauve and baby blue and all look lovely. It is a flip phone and on the front around the screen is a mirror which comes in handy when I'm out and about. Inside, the screen is a good size and the screen colour and brightness is good. When the screen is blank this can also be used a mirror. The keys are small and would only really be able to be used by a female or at least someone with small fingers. The keys are set out nicely and are easy to use. There is a camera on the phone but I wouldn't recommend getting this phone if you wanted to take photos as the camera isn't good at all. The quality of pictures isn't good and you can't zoom in or out much. You are meant to be able to send and receive picture messages on this phone but this doesn't seem to ever work. You can't download ringtones but the ones stored to the phone aren't too bad and there's quite a large choice. The calculator, schedules diary and alarm are easy to use and the schedule is handy for setting reminders although if you're phone is on silent and you don't hear it going off, it won't remind you again and you will have missed it. All of the other applications are fairly basic, however, my sister loves the games on there which include JumpJump, Prince Princess and Space Ball which are all adventure type games. The phone only comes on the Vodafone network. I find that the signal is great everywhere for this phone. Even in the cinema when no one else has a signal (even people on the same network) I am able to get one. It is meant to be able to be used abroad but the first time I took it away, upon my arrival home things started going wrong. The camera wouldn't work at all and a couple of the keys stopped working and I had to press them really hard or a couple of times to make it work. Then the phone completely broke and just wouldn't turn on.
I looked around everywhere for a new one of the same make because I really loved the phone but nowhere seemed to sell it and they told me it was because the phone had had a lot of complaints with things going wrong. I eventually found a new one, exactly the same, on ebay for less than £40 which was a great deal compared to the whopping amount I originally paid for it which was somewhere between £100 and £200 (I can't quite remember but whatever it was it was expensive for this phone!). This one has lasted me quite a while. I've taken it on holiday again and it stayed fine after I came back. Although now the number 4 key doesn't work properly and I have to push it a couple of times usually to get it to work.
Overall I definitely wouldn't recommend this phone if you wanted something flash with a good camera, lots of appliances, able to download things, etc. I only need a basic phone for calling and texting which is all I use it for. I love the design, style and colour and that's basically the only reason I still have it.
THis phone is small and very easy to use and is perfect for someone who doesn't care about all the latest features, and the flip will keep a little kid amused for ages!
I PURCHASED THIS PHONE IN JANUARY 2006. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. IT IS A VERY CUTE LITTLE PHONE , BUT ONCE I GOT IT HOME EVERYTHING WENT WRONG. MY CALLS KEPT DROPPING. THE PHONE CUTS OFF ON ITS OWN. WHEN I DIAL A NUMBER THERE ARE TIMES WHEN SOME ONE ELSES NUMBER ANSWERS. I CAN'T REACH ANYONE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE. I WAS ADVISED THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS PHONE BUT I CAN'T REACH ANYONE AT VK TO FIND OUT. I WOULD LOVE TO UTILIZE THIS PHONE TO ITS FULLEST CAPABILITIES, BUT IT HAS MAJOR KINKS. I REALLY LIKE THE SIZE AND FEATURES, BUT HALF OF THEM ARE DEFECTIVE
After receiving this phone for my birthday I couldn't be happier. Its good - but not fantastic. But it's fine for texting and calling and that's all I needed it for. It's everything a girl wants on her phone. It's pink and very attractive.
Games - good but not great, They are JumpJump (a frog game - I dont understand it!!)
Prince Princess (a platform game -cute)
Spaceball (just your basic snake but with balls)
Tones - around 40. Quiote good. Polyphonic. They are cute but do get a but annoying. They are fine though but you can't download new ones.
Cute message alerts too.
Camera - Very good in the right light. Takes pretty good photos. It goes a bit green in the dark though. Can use photos as backrounds.
Video - Ok for mucking around with, has no sound unfortunatley. Lasts up to 25 secs.
Display - Very nice, Good, clear pics and you have 3 animation backrounds too. External display (the outside) you can change the clock, image so on, Very cute.
Texting - east enought. You have to get used to ot though. You've got eZi (predictive) normal cap locks numbers so on but I cant work out the symbols. Keypad it fine though when you press clear it sometimes deletes the message.
Settings - very easy to use. Phone settings, the usual.
Phonebook - takes a while to get used to but is easy to use.
Organiser - fine just has Alarm and stuff like that and you can ssee what time it is around the world!! Pretty cool.
Battery life - short I'm afraid but fine if you dont take piccys.
Very easy to navigate.
Ummmm i thinks thats everything. Theres loads more to say but..hehe. Great little phone. I recommend.
This isn't going to be a normal review from me! Normally, there's something positive about every product I review but this time, it's different.
It seems that you can only buy this phone on Vodafone. The cheapest place around was to get it in a Vodafone shop but unless they have any in stock, you won't be able to get it them there now as the line has been discontinued and rightly so (I'll explain why I think this phone is a terrible phone later on). Also on the Vodafone website, you can get this phone Refurbished for £45.
If you still want to buy this phone after my review, you can also still buy it at Littlewoods for £69.50.
It's only available on Prepay and not on contract.
The phone is light and dinky and only comes in pink or lilac, which is why it was so popular with young teenage girls for Christmas. I have been told it comes in a blue colour as well but I've never actually seen them in the shops. I think the blue is a very limited edition of the VK530.
It has a colour display. It has 40 polyphonic ringtones. It has VGA CMOS camera. It's got GPRS and WAP on it so you can access the Internet. It has predictive texting and a few games. You can record video with it. The screen when it goes blank turns into a mirror.
The standby time on the phone should 100 hours and call time 3-5 hours depending on how good your signal quality is.
Basically it's your every day basic dual band flip phone with an antenna.
What's in the box
Phone with the battery, the charger, a manual on how to use the phone, hand strap and earphones that plug into the phone.
How to use the phone
It's very easy to use. Just flip it open. You will be greeted with the time, how much signal you're received and Vodafone at the top or the bottom depended on the settings.
To make a phone call on this phone just dial the number or find it in the phonebook and press the green button. To end the call either close the phone or press the red button. To answer a call depending on your settings, either just open the phone or press the green button.
The menu has 9 options.
* Display *
This option changes the display of what you see when you open the phone. For example, putting a photo as a background or changing the clock (analog or digital).
* Sound *
This option is for changing the ringtones for calls and texts or putting it on silent or vibrate.
* Settings *
This option allows you to set the time, language and also on how you answer your phone either by flip or pressing the buttons. Other options in this menu are call waiting, call barred and call duration.
* Phonebook and Messages *
These options are self explanatory.
* Organiser *
This option has a calander and an alarm clock. You can use the calendar to remind you for special occasions or things to do and the alarm clock can be set for every day or just a once off.
* Camera *
Like on nearly every other camera phone, this takes pictures 180 degrees and can zoom in or out and you can change the brightness of the pictures. You can use special features on the pictures as well like frames to glamourise the pictures up. You should be able to send these pictures by email attachment to other phones but you can't (which is explained later on in the review)
Also in this option, you can also change to a video camera. Though you only get only 7 seconds of recording time.
* Games *
The phone has 3 games on it. They are called Jump Jump, Prince Princess, and Space Ball.
* Vodafone *
This option gives you a list of Vodafone options.
The manual and user's manual
It tells you how to use the phone in a simple manor and gives you the list of helpful tips and numbers for Vodafone.
You can only store about 25 photos and you can't send or receive pictures on this phone because of technical difficulties which should be sorted out by the engineers soon but still hasn't. Plus the quality of the camera isn't very good at all.
You can record video with the phone but it records with no sound at all. It's watching a silent movie.
The buttons on the phone are quite close together that you can accidentely delete a text when you're just trying to clear a character.
The battery life on some of the phones seems to be so short that after a three minutes call, it dies on you.
You can't download ringtones onto the phone, which is a shame because the 40 you get aren't spectacular.
On some of the phones, the keys are sticking and dialling when you didn't even ask it to.
The software on the phones is faulty causing random freezing or just switching itself off and then on again.
It may look pretty but the list with the problems for this phone is endless. I do not recommend this phone to anyone.
If you really want a pink small flip phone I recommend you get the Sagem MYC-52.
The small, cute and pretty fone is great for any young to middle aged girl as it is not only smart and nice to look at its small and fits easily into your handbag. which is an extra eh girls!? Yet as i know this phone isnt as it is all cracked up to be. I too have this phone i was so pleased when i got it for christmas a while ago but i soon got bored of it. The fone is pants! after a month of having the phone i was bored and i found the ringtones and pictures were rubbish. Then i went to my daughters sports day, one of her little friends were sitting on a chair and the leg was concentrated on the glass and it broke. I have yet still not got it fixed. I also have dropped it many times and it shows, with chunks missing and scratches everywhere. Not only that you know those dangley things for your phone. well i had one of them but did you think i could get it in of course i couldnt the hole is a difficult shape and size. Also when i plug my phone into the charger it makes noises again and again i have been tempted a few times to just throw it out the window but havent. A s if that isnt enough I've now had the phone for 1-2 years and it is now completley broken. About a week ago i tried to turn it on but when it turned on it went straight off again. I plugged it into the charger an it came up with battery full. so i unplugged it and it turned off again. Now it will not work atall and i am completely gutted. I also have a friend with the same phone but a month younger and it has happened to hers aswell obviously there is a design error here that needs to be considered with there newer versions. I am not very pleased with the phone.
This was the ideal christmas present for a girl who loves pink and who has the smallest handbags.
It is a good phone if your out in the pub with the girls and you need to make a call for a taxi. If however you want to down load games, ringtones
or link up then its a no no. It will do the basics but thats about it.
It would score a little higher for me if the clock stayed on the front display, instead you have to open it up.
The camera is okay but the colours are not as good as i would have hoped for.
Battery time very good, but i never heard any warnings when batterie is running low so keep your eye on the display.
This mobile phone is small and handy, it fits just about anywhere, and is ideal for those on a night out. It's really cute and girly, although the ring tones are pretty boring and the technology isn't that good as it doesn't have blue tooth etc.
It is quite a good phone although there are definately better phones out there if you are prepared to pay a little extra
I have had mine for several months now and i have not had any problems with it.
