Advantages: It's pink, looks nice

Disadvantages: No end of problems with the phone

This isn't going to be a normal review from me! Normally, there's something positive about every product I review but this time, it's different.

VK-530
It seems that you can only buy this phone on Vodafone. The cheapest place around was to get it in a Vodafone shop but unless they have any in stock, you won't be able to get it them there now as the line has been discontinued and rightly so (I'll explain why I think this phone is a terrible phone later on). Also on the Vodafone website, you can get this phone Refurbished for £45.
If you still want to buy this phone after my review, you can also still buy it at Littlewoods for £69.50.

It's only available on Prepay and not on contract.

The phone is light and dinky and only comes in pink or lilac, which is why it was so popular with young teenage girls for Christmas. I have been told it comes in a blue colour as well but I've never actually seen them in the shops. I think the blue is a very limited edition of the VK530.
It has a colour display. It has 40 polyphonic ringtones. It has VGA CMOS camera. It's got GPRS and WAP on it so you can access the Internet. It has predictive texting and a few games. You can record video with it. The screen when it goes blank turns into a mirror.
The standby time on the phone should 100 hours and call time 3-5 hours depending on how good your signal quality is.
Basically it's your every day basic dual band flip phone with an antenna.

What's in the box
Phone with the battery, the charger, a manual on how to use the phone, hand strap and earphones that plug into the phone.

How to use the phone
It's very easy to use. Just flip it open. You will be greeted with the time, how much signal you're received and Vodafone at the top or the bottom depended on the settings.

To make a phone call on this phone just dial the number or find it in the phonebook and press the green button. To end the call either close the phone or press the red button. To answer a call depending on your settings, either just open the phone or press the green button.

The menu has 9 options.

* Display *
This option changes the display of what you see when you open the phone. For example, putting a photo as a background or changing the clock (analog or digital).

* Sound *
This option is for changing the ringtones for calls and texts or putting it on silent or vibrate.

* Settings *
This option allows you to set the time, language and also on how you answer your phone either by flip or pressing the buttons. Other options in this menu are call waiting, call barred and call duration.

* Phonebook and Messages *
These options are self explanatory.

* Organiser *
This option has a calander and an alarm clock. You can use the calendar to remind you for special occasions or things to do and the alarm clock can be set for every day or just a once off.

* Camera *
Like on nearly every other camera phone, this takes pictures 180 degrees and can zoom in or out and you can change the brightness of the pictures. You can use special features on the pictures as well like frames to glamourise the pictures up. You should be able to send these pictures by email attachment to other phones but you can't (which is explained later on in the review)
Also in this option, you can also change to a video camera. Though you only get only 7 seconds of recording time.

* Games *
The phone has 3 games on it. They are called Jump Jump, Prince Princess, and Space Ball.

* Vodafone *
This option gives you a list of Vodafone options.

The manual and user's manual
It tells you how to use the phone in a simple manor and gives you the list of helpful tips and numbers for Vodafone.

The problems
You can only store about 25 photos and you can't send or receive pictures on this phone because of technical difficulties which should be sorted out by the engineers soon but still hasn't. Plus the quality of the camera isn't very good at all.
You can record video with the phone but it records with no sound at all. It's watching a silent movie.
The buttons on the phone are quite close together that you can accidentely delete a text when you're just trying to clear a character.
The battery life on some of the phones seems to be so short that after a three minutes call, it dies on you.
You can't download ringtones onto the phone, which is a shame because the 40 you get aren't spectacular.
On some of the phones, the keys are sticking and dialling when you didn't even ask it to.
The software on the phones is faulty causing random freezing or just switching itself off and then on again.

Overall thoughts
It may look pretty but the list with the problems for this phone is endless. I do not recommend this phone to anyone.
If you really want a pink small flip phone I recommend you get the Sagem MYC-52.
