I work in an environment which involves using a lot of Powerpoint presentations and the standard company phone is the Blackberry for all staff. In the more important offices they have begun to install these products which I must admit I was never aware off until I was encountered with one. I was unsure at first at it seemed far too "technology of technology's sake" for my liking and I far preferred the ease and use of the simple PC and Projector combo which had served me so well for years. However, as a gadget nerd as well I simply had to try it out.
The Blackberry phones are renowned for their professional use in business and the range of apps and features from photos, videos, word documents and importantly for my use, powerpoint presentations.
It is stylish in a grey and black and feels solid and well made. The standard connections on the back will link it to the monitors and projectors easily and there are no connectivity or compatibility issues as it works just like a laptop or PC tower. I have never had any issues thus far in the few months using this with the company I work for and from speaking to others everyone else feels the same.
To use the product you simply pair it with the Bluetooth connections on your phone, select "present" on the document you wish to use in the Powerpoint application and then away you go. Its fast, easy and efficient. It has all the features on the application you would expect, including timings so you can deliver your work with the powerpoint going along smoothly. Your phone can act as a remote clicking next and back to go through the slides. The range is also very effective and I have found walking around a 20m classroom has no issues and its as fast and responsive as you would expect.
The few downsides are that it does drain your phones batteries fast, and the Blackberrys are famous for having batteries which drain quickly after a few months use and also the price. At £127 its only worth investing in for businesses that already use Blackberrys, lecturers with the phone or for self employed who present using this. Its intended to make you "leave your laptop behind" and it works that way too and in terms of space and aesthetics it beats the standard combos every time but simply its not a worthwhile product for even small businesses to invest £127 when the normal pc-laptop with projector does the trick. Handy in terms of portability of data but still easy with a usb stick!
Avoid unless forced to use!
