Advantages: Protects my phone and looks great

This year Santa bought me a rather strange Christmas present, a 'sock' made by Nokia for my Samsung mobile phone. Sounds weird, no? Well, no not really to be honest as it's proved to be quite a useful gift. Although this is a Nokia branded accessory my Samsung E250 fits into it perfectly and as it is quite literally a sock, albeit without a foot at the end, I would imagine it would stretch to fit most phones on the market at the moment.

It's a knitted sock using a thick wool, thicker than any sock I've ever worn and probably more like the sleeve of a warm and comfortable jumper. Mine is a different design to the one pictured above and has thin black and white stripes with a lovely aqua green fold over cuff at the top, I have no idea what that black thing is sticking above the phone in the picture but mine doesn't have anything like this.

The socks are designed to keep your phone free from scuffs and scratches and I can certainly vouch for that, the sock is fairly thick and I think should I drop my phone while it's wearing it's sock then it wouldn't be damaged as it would if I dropped it naked. The phone that is, not me.

The only trouble is that I can't use my phone while it's in the sock, but I couldn't care less about that as it's really no trouble to slide it out of the sock and make my call or send my text. I can obviously only speak for my own phone, but the sock fits it like a glove (oh, too many clothes references in this review!) and it's so straightforward to pop the phone in and out that I won't insult your intelligence by giving you step by step instructions. The sock can be washed in the machine at a cool temperature, although that leads me to wonder whether the sock eating monster that resides in every washing machine will be tempted by a single sock, or will that simply confuse matters?

I like the little aqua tag that says Nokia on the side of the sock, but this does make me feel somewhat of a traitor as I am 100% committed to Samsung mobile so it would be nice if I'd had a sock to match the brand of my phone. Then again Nokia make lovely phones so perhaps this little sock raises my street cred by convincing idle passers by that I have a top of the range Nokia, mind you if I had a top of the range Nokia I wouldn't know how to use it!

Even though this was a present I checked how much it cost in order to write my review and was staggered to find it costs £8 on Amazon. £8, that's EIGHT POUNDS! Honestly, I could have bought half a dozen pairs of socks for that in the market!

I love it though, it's a sweet idea and much nicer than the dull leather case I had been using to protect my phone. My twelve year old granddaughter loves it and has tried to steal it at least twice, perhaps I will buy her one for Easter. Or should I be mean and just let her covet mine?
