	Modular Technology HCF PCI Internal ... is a reason why this modem is so cheap: it is missing some hardware (they are called many names: soft modems, winmodems, software modem, HSP etc.). This modem relies on the systems' processor to do all the work, which means it can be a performance drain. On the latest computers this drain mightn't be noticed unless you are doing some serious multi-tasking though. This type of modem is offered with nearly all new systems and sometimes doesn't come bundled with drivers, which can be a hinderance if you have a problem and have to re-install them. 	Aztech MDP3858-SPE ... my parents my external US Robotics 28.8 modem (aren’t I so generous), I bought the Aztech MDP-3858SP-W modem second hand from someone at work for £10 Modem specification: Supports all major modem standards such as V.90 56Kps data modem. Fax, Full Duplex Audio and Digital Answering Machine. Driver support for Windows ME, 98, 95, 2000, NT4 No support for Linux. Installation. The installation of this modem is simple like most internal modem PCI devices. Driver installation is prompted for on boot up, as this is a plug n play card. 	Aztech MDP3858-SPE ... is a real touchy subject with me, as I have had nothing but trouble with Aztech modems. Originally the first Astech modem I had was in my Dell PC which I have had around the 2 year mark. This PC came with an Aztech MDP3880v-w modem. All was grand for the first 3 months untill the modem burnt itself out. 3 3880(series) modems later and they are still burning out. So confused and baffled, as was Dell they decided to give me the next model up. Which was the MDP3900v-w. Which of course I was all happy to try, Untill I installed and once again bang on 3 months later the thing burns itself out. All in all I am on my 5th Aztech modem in this system.
