The modem itself is easy to install and works a treat. Supported on most platforms. 	3Com 56k Voice Faxmodem Pro ... was selling a 56k V90 modem for £12. I bought it straight away! Did I get it to work? NO. I was told it was probably faulty. I bought another one through a reputable shop. Did that work? NO. So I bought an external one. A US robotics. I have had lots of modems in the past, and to be honest I really can't find any difference in any of them. The diffence I did find though is that 3com (the makers of US robotics modems) offer a lifetime warranty, and technical support. You can email them and get a nearly instant reply. 	3Com 56k Voice Internal PCI ... to say, the days of the hardware ISA modem is gone. It is true, I would take my 33.6 ISA modem configured for COM2 any day over a 56k PCI modem, but I don't have an ISA slot in my machine (as is the case with most new PC's). The dirty truth is that all PCI modems are clock-cycle robbing winmodems and never as stable as an ISA modem. Part of the reason for poor performance in winmodems is the IRQ that they take. Most winmodems, and this one is no different, take a non-standard COM port such as 5 and an IRQ of 9 or 10. All Hardware ISA modems can be configured for COM2 IRQ 3.
