With optional resource cards for digital modems, hardware based data encryption and Public Key Acceleration the X8500 Family can be deployed as a remote access server or as a VPN gateway. Optional carrier boards for BRICK-XM/XL modules enable the seamless migration from older BinTec products. This makes the X8500 Family a future oriented device.

For high reliability the X8500 Family is equipped with two slots for redundant and hot swappable power supplies.
