Advantages: the product seems to work well and iks well, the fault was minor
Disadvantages: poor customer care, silly problem-took so long to sort, appear to have been lied to
D link...where do we begin....
Problem started with NTL actually having various problems. They promised us a modem with an ethernet port. However when we got our speed touch modem through, we realised it was a USB modem. WE chose this D link modem hoping our luck would look up!
Firstly we had major compatibility problems with our router and modem, this was not D links fault but another iritating aspect along the way.
Then the modem stopped working. We were unsure what had stopped working. We could still connect to a network amongst the house so we tried the modem by its self to confirm it was indeed the problem. We live in a student house, the person who had bought the modem was skiing, D link said they would not talk to us and said they needed to talk to the person who bought the modem.
Here are the list of events following;
1) tried to find out what the problem was ourselves, a dodgey addapter, no current was reaching the modem but the actual modem was fine.
2) Very unusual adapter couldn't find any for a reasonable price at the hops, D link promised to sort it out and send a new one
3) Gave D link our email address and telephone number. They said they would call us back to confirm they would be sending it the next day.
4) Heard nothing from them
5) Called again-got told they would send an email, nothing
6) Called up again-hung on for an hour-being told to wait by an automated voice, it hung up after 59mins
7) Several more promises of emails to confirm they would be sending the item-no responce
8) They kept claiming they sent the email, so we gave another email address, then they sent it...some where else along our street.
9) They returned the modem.
10) We called up and complained, and it was redispatched to us after they had sorted it. The man on the phone also made the slightly irritating comment that this was taking a long time for a dodgey adapter.
We had to pay for the hours on the phone, we had to pay to send their faulty modem back to the, we had to pay for our internet connection with no internet. And we are students with little money and not wanting to waste our time on the phone to an innsolant company!
We reported the problem in early January, we recieved a new modem about a week ago. So early March! 2 months for a dodgey adapter-its ridictulous and the customer care was appauling!
