I bought the Microlink 56K Fun USB modem from Simply.co.uk for only about £15! Well, I wish I'd not wasted my time and now I have the hassle of returning it. I plugged it in to a modern spec PC running Windows 2000. As expected it was immediately detected. I'm fairly IT literate and went through the process with the install CD. But Windows couldn't get all it needed off the CD. I tried various different approaches but to no avail. So I went to Elsa.com and downloaded the correct drivers. It didn't make the slightest difference. I actually bought a £40 Tornado 565 external modem from Maplin which I'd planned to return once the Microlink had arrived. I've been really pleased with it though and so will keep it.
