Before i bought Elsa Microlink 56k Internet Modem, I use a usb modem. I was skeptic on getting a com port powered modem simply because I enjoyed using a usb modem. I bought the modem at a local store, it passed my expectation. It was easy to install (took me less than 8 minutes to install); I like the fact that it is moveable because of it stylish design and weight less than 7kg, which fits perfectly for the guy on the GO; it has an unbelievable data transfer speed, around 56k/s which is good for low and heavy internet users. I also noticed that the buffering rate of steaming contents was unbelievable. All these value and great features are really worth more than the monetary value of this Microlink Modem. Most of the Elsa Microlink Modem are refurbished (An item that has been professionally restored to working order by a manufacturer or manufacturer-approved vendor).
I used to use a cheapo winmodem that came bundled with my PC, but when i started to have trouble with it i thought i may as well splash out and get some decent kit. I chose the Elsa USB because i have had great experiences with elsa in the past :) Anyway, i ordered from dabs.com (very good) and it was with me within 2 days. Got it out of the box and plugged it in, within 5 miniutes i was away, drivers installed and i was on the internet with no problems at all. And above all, i was very suprised, that my surfing speed had greatly inceased and i was now connecting consistently at 50.6kbps which in my opionion is very good. I have had the modem for about 6 months now and i have had absolutly no problems with it at all. I would highly reccomend it to anyone who is thinking about upgrading and buying a new modem. You really cant go wrong with an Elsa :)
The Elsa Microlink 56K Internet external modem is a fast, reliable, great looking modem that produces results. The Microlink 56K Internet is external & connects to your serail port (com port), comes with all cables & power leads & is very easy to set up & use. It's about average pricewise, but very good value for money. It's very stylish & makes a welcome break from Beige! Small, lightweight & user friendly the 56K Internet is a modem for everyone that needs a new 56K modem. Being external saves having to take the lid off you PC & also lets you switch it off with the flick of the switch at the back. Pricewise, at about £49.99 it's very good value for your money & comes with a great software package, Communicate Lite which you can buy the upgrade for at a discounted price. I use Freeserve with BT Surftime & generally get connection speeds of about 49333 bps along with good download speeds (as long as the download site isn't blocked up!). I've had several external modems before & none have compared to the Microlink 56K Internet in either price or performance. The Microlink 56K Internet is an excellent modem that produces excellent results at an excellent price! The installation manual is very easy to follow regardless of how long you've been using a PC. Elsa provide great support for all of their components & drivers, patches & upgrades are very easy to find on their Uk site.
