The Universal DAA provides the flexibility to use the modem in multiple countries while traveling with the need for only one cable. Included software enables a user to send faxes at speeds up to 14.4Kb/s from a portable computer. The K56flex technology delivers speeds up to 56Kb/s for downloading data and graphic files and 31.2Kb/s for uploading files. Also included are MNP 10 and MNP 10 EC, two of the industry's leading error correction protocols, providing strong modem connections during adverse line conditions: essential for domestic and international communication. The Compaq Microcom 420 is ideal for Internet access, remote access into corporate networks and for global organizations that want to standardize on a one-modem solution for all international employees. When traveling from one country to another, the user simply chooses the desired country from a software utility and the modem automatically resets itself for the appropriate telephone network requirements. Specialized circuitry for an RJ-11 line is included to protect the modem against internal damage if plugged into a digital line. The Compaq Microcom 420 is Microsoft Windows 95 compatible, which provides automatic hardware recognition and driver upload upon installation.
