USRobotics Sportster 56K Message modem ... virtually any PC, the U.S. Robotics modem gives you the fastest possible downloads over analog phone lines. The 56K Message Modem incorporates a digital answering machine, built-in speakerphone and external modem into one design. The 56K Message Modem also features a bank of flash memory that allows you to receive fax and voice messages without the intervention of the PC. Voice messages can be received even when the PC is not switched on. Voice messages can be retrieved from a remote location or locally by using buttons on the top of the modem. The 56K Message Modem comes with specially designed application software. This product is not just a normal voice/fax/data modem. The software includes all features needed to manage both the 56K Message Modem in answering machine mode and the normal fax and voice message mode.

I have been using this model since the year 2000 or 2001 (I cannot remember). It has been faithful until today 30th April 2007. If I had to buy it again I would. The only problem I had was the BVRP software that came with it; not very stable. I have been sending and receiving fax documents with speeds up to 36 kb/s.
