Zyxel Elite 2864L ... ITU-T standards including the V.34 protocol. It automatically falls back to lower speeds when communicating with slower modems or when line conditions degrade. And it maintains compatibility to ZyXEL proprietary 19.2Kbps and 16.8Kbps speeds.

With an optional ISDN line interface module, the ZyXEL Elite 2864 can be upgraded to an ISDN device. Users have two B Channels that can be used for simultaneous communication. For example, one B Channel, using ISDN, can transmit information at 64Kbps while the other B Channel is transmitting analog data at up to 28.8Kbps. (using an external analog device) The Elite Series ISDN modems allow ISDN's two 64Kbps B Channels to be combined for speeds up to 128Kbps. ZyXEL is the first manufacturer to implement V.42bis data compression over ISDN, enabling the modems to achieve even higher speeds for greater performance. (Elite 2864 requires optional ISDN line module) In addition to auto data/fax detection and EIA Class 1, 2, and 2.0 capabilities, the ZyXEL Elite 2864 provides a series of unique fax functions. For example, its parallel port can connect to and directly drive a HP PCL compatible printer, converting a laser printer into a plain paper fax machine. With an optional 8MB DRAM module for storing received faxes, the ZyXEL Elite 2864 also performs overnight standalone fax. Besides the voice commands, compression schemes, and DTMF tone detection available from ZyXEL, the Elite 2864 provides convenient and versatile voice message input/output through its built-in microphone and speaker jacks. A regular telephone set can also be plugged into the modem's phone jack for convenient voice message recording or playback.
