Nationwide Building Society ... not give them as I did not know who they were (despite them saying they were from the special investigation department). They could have been anybody. They gave me a number to ring but it was an 0845 number which I told them I would not use as they are expensive. I went into my local branch and asked them to verify the number and it was correct. I then proceeded to phone the special investigation branch. I took 35 minutes and 5 different people before I eventually got to the right department. Are these people trained to relocate calls? Abbey National in general ... were offering 8% on savings and enquired. It turned out that their offer is subject to having 1000 pounds at least paid into the saving account, and the 8% return is capped at 2,500 pounds deposit, on a saving account. However, when I went to the Branch, I found that the queue to be attended was only 5 minutes and the person I spoke to also advised me on ISAs and mortgages. I will probably take up their offer by having 1,000 pounds going into the account at the beginning of the month, from my main account with a different bank, and then I will move the money back towards the end of the month, they do not mind this!
