Halifax:
... got a tracker mortgage with the Halifax in July 2008. It is BOE +0.68%. They have been fantastic with us, the purchase of the house was straightforward, the customer services when you call up are excellent, and their call centres are in the UK. They have dropped our tracker rate with the BOE rate, despite a collar applying, so our mortgage has dropped by over £300 a month, which is fantastic for us. We want to c... Four years ago when we took out our first mortgage they were one of the few to touch us (amazingly as soon as we had one mortgage everyone was willing to lend to us!!!) When we took the mortgage out, maybe we were lucky but there are no Early Repayment charges, which suits us just fine. The staff are always helpful whenever we have a question and there are usually many to be asked. There communcation by post is great. Only one thing is I would like to be able... First Direct ... was looking around for a new mortgage deal because we are due to have an extension built in the Spring and it needed financing. I was also keen to reduce the term of our mortgage significantly as I would like to retire without having to still be paying. We finally went with First direct because unlike some other offset mortgages you only have to pay on the outstanding amount rather than the amount that you borrow regardless of the amounts you are offsetting. Basically offsetti... Read the full review: Offset Mortgage- great while savings rates are low by dove3066 |

The One Account ... you asked me a year ago what I thought of the One Account, I would not have hesitated to say it was an excellent product. In addition to the whole concept of an offset account suiting us financially, the customer service provided by the One Account was excellent. The phone line was always promptly answered and very helpful. The monthly statements were really informative, providing full details of money going in and out, as well as a graph to show the rate at which your liabilities were reducing or increasing and whether you were on target. I have always banked with the Royal Bank of Scotland and as far as I was concerned, I was continuing to do so. Unfort... Read the full review: The One Account - not the product it was by maria14 |
