Having had two mortgages in my life, I can't say I have a full view of the mortgage offerings out there. What I can say is that I would never ever ever recommend Britannia to anyone. Even my worst enemy. I should have realised there would be problems when the original quotation never failed to materialised which is a breach of the mortgage code. However, being in a hurry I proceeded with what looked like a really good deal for a flexible mortgage. The application process was ok and the funds arrived in time.

But.....ever since then, I have had the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I have already had three apology letters, two compensation payments and I'm waiting for another one. To start with they didn't complete the mortgage properly internally so didn't take the first payment for eight weeks. Since then, they have managed to mess up payments left right and centre. When I ring to try and sort it out, the call centre staff don't have a clue what's happening and just tell you things that aren't true to get you off the phone. Which means I keep having to call all the time to sort it out. Then, to top it off, when I did get angry about it, the member of staff called me a name when she thought I was on mute! Fantastic service!

I finally talked to a call centre employee who was honest with and told me that they are at least two weeks behind their service standard, so if you're waiting for a letter from them, it could be some time.

I am now planning to remortgage after a year with Britannia which is something I never thought I would do.
