I have only good things to say about the building society. Four years ago when we took out our first mortgage they were one of the few to touch us (amazingly as soon as we had one mortgage everyone was willing to lend to us!!!) When I bought my first home, C&G were one of the few lenders who accepted 'vendor deposit' paid, thus allowing me to get a step on the property ladder. (I believe they have now stopped this). It is a good idea when considering a mortgage to use a financial adviser or broker, who can search through a list of available lenders, taking into consideration all the borrowers personal circumstances and financial circumstances, and viewing the vast arraye of special rates and introductory offers available from all the high street& specialist lenders. Cheltenham and Gloucester are part of the Lloyds TSB group and provide good quality no ties mortgages. There terms and conditions for the granting of mortgages, such as income multiples and credit history, are rather standard. However, it is in other respects that this mortgage provider stands out from the rest. Firstly it is standard practice on many mortgages where a loan exceeds either 70% or 75% of the value of the property being bought for an 'indemnity policy' to be required, this is an insurance policy for the lender that their costs will be covered should they ever need to repossess the house, and to cover the losses if the house is sold for less ...
