Egg Are you looking for a fast, easy and profitable way to manage your banking? If the answer to that question is yes then look no further that Egg.com the internet bank. I have been with Egg since its early days, nearly five years now. I can not fault it and would recommend it to anyone. I started out with Egg by opening one of their high interest internet savings accounts. I have since increased my business with Egg to include two of their ISA products and there credit card. The first thing you notice with Egg is how easy it is to use. You can do everything via their web site or you can call them if you want to. The web site is very easy to use and navigate with clear instructions at all stages of an application procedure or everyday use. The backup and customer service is unsurpassed by any UK business I have ever dealt with. If you have a problem or query about anything you can either call them, and get an answer straight away, or you can use their secure email system and have an answer returned to you via email within 24 hours. Any reply you receive is always easy to understand, straight to the point but both courteous and rigorous in the advice/answers you get. Nothing is too much trouble for Egg and they will guide you through any procedure you need to take step bye step. I recently had to hold payment on my credit card to one company (see my review of Sofa Workshop and you will know why). This was done great efficiency and with little hassle to me after my initial contact with Egg customer support. With regard to Egg?s products I can?t recommend their credit card highly enough. You get low rates on purchases and balance transfers and 0.5% cash back on all purchases. Then for me one of the greatest benefits is you can view your account at any time via the web site instead of having to wait for your monthly bill to arrive. If anything fraudulent has turned up on your account you can be on to it within days as appose
d to weeks. This is unlikely to happen though as Egg keep a good watch on your account and call you if they spot anything that may be fraud. Again good customer service. The savings account is again easy to use. You can transfer in and out via direct debit, quick and easy. Again all statements are available online whenever you want to check them. The rates on interest are relatively high, beaten by some building society savings accounts but no fees for withdrawals etc. at Egg. If you have other bank accounts then you can view these alongside your Egg account on the web site by following Egg?s setup procedure, this is extremely useful for all banking transactions. Lastly Egg do mortgages, I don't have one with them myself, I went with the Halifax but they did come second in my list of possibles. It just happened that The Halifax had better first time buyer deals going at the time. I mention I have two ISAs with Egg. I can?t comment on how well they do compared to others but I can say they are again easy to manage online and the statements are there for you when you need them. In summary a very easy banking system that has some great offers and customer services which can not be beaten. Update - I have recently ad trouble with credit card fraud and am happy to say Egg took care of the quickly and efficiently at no cost to me.

- 08/10/03 Good review. There are other credit cards though which offer a better cashback return than 0.5%. |

- 02/10/03 I agree Egg are a great operation and a slick internet banking site. Unfortunately their interest rate is miserable, I've moved to Ing and I moved long ago from their Egg card when they dropped the cashback to half percent - went to CapitalOne Circle card. |
