The information came through to me very quickly and I was told I was eligible for a fast track (apparently meaning it would be complete in 28 days). In principle that would have been brilliant however the Woolwich really wanted to be awkward about finalising my mortgage with them so the process was delayed. My fixed rate ... more

I took a First Active mortgage following the separation from my soon to be ex husband. I had done a lot of research on mortgages and this seemed at the time to be one of the best deals I could get. I was scared of committing as I had never had a mortgage on my own so couldn't bring myself to press the submit button on the internet application (which was really easy to complete) I decided that I would call them and spoke to a very pleasant lady who was so helpful and actually helped me do the application on the phone instead. It took a few quick minutes and that was that! The information came through to me very quickly and I was told I was eligible for a ...  Read the complete review

After staying with the same mortgage company for many years, I decided it was time for a change and the hunt began for a mortgage with a competitive rate and one that I understood! Two months later after trawling the net and reading mortgage magazines I decided on First Active. The main reasons were a very good discount rates, good variable rate after the initial discount period and the also website was very easy to understand. I plumped for a 5-year tracker discount rate, which means whatever the Bank of England rate is for the next five years is the rate I pay. After this period my rate reverts to the Bank of England rate +1.10%. First Active also ...  Read the complete review

Those of us with mortgages out there will know the feeling. Your introductory rate on you mortgage is coming to an end, you are about to be out of the dreaded tie in period so now is the time for those of use wise enough to steer clear of Independent Financial Advisors (just DON’T get me started..) start to trawl the net to try and find another fantastic (if we are lucky) mortgage deal to transfer to in the hope of saving a bit of money. So, in March this year, that’s exactly what I did. After seeing the advert on TV about how First Active (FA from now on) were making mortgages ‘the way they should be’, I was happy to find they had a great deal on offer of a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The Aussies Have Got it Right (434 words)

Having tried endowment and repayment mortgages and receiving annual statements that seem to suggest you owe more than when you started even after paying thousands of pounds, we decided to try the so called Australian mortgage. We were at the time with the Woolwich in our second year of a capped rate offer. Despite wishing to transfer to a Woolwich flexible mortgage they insisted we pay £3600 as we were tied into a capped rate deal. Nothing would make them budge and so we decided to look elsewhere for a company that didn't treat us as numbers. We found one, First Active (now Brittanic Money). We duly paid the Woolwich ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review First Active: Flexible Lendor (167 words)

First Active are quite an innovative lender. They calculate interest on a daily basis, which saves you money, and always have quite competitive rates. they won't try and tempt you with a teaser rate which then increases and ties you in, so you may not see them in the best buy tables and therefore you could miss them altogether from your decision making process. I would recommend anyone who is looking to either remortgage or to buy a property to consider First Active. I actually borrow with Nationwide and am tied in for another year, but next year these huys will be on my radar for a new deal. UPDATE Since I wrote this many ...  Read the complete review
