My mortage is fantastic and went great from the start.

from the time i saw my dream house on the 18th of december 2007 to survey to completion on the 31st of january 2008.

they have been great all the way and i was excited that i was getting a high street mortgage instead of the broker mortgage i got in the first place. no-one tried to explain to me what or how a mortgage worked.

yes i could have researched it more but it was also a lack of understanding on my part.

my first mortgage was with preferred and it was for 1080.22 for 25 years and this felt like a noose around my neck.

now i am with the halifax and it's much better and the halifax staff members took the time to explain how the whole process works, what i owe, the survey, how long it would take to get the mortgage offer and so forth.

my rate is 5.99% fixed for five years and 835 a month, i am well chuffed and fin it manageable.

i am now obviously more confident and happy with mortgage i have and would like to over pay on the mortgage.

with my mortgage i have the option to overpay 10 percent a year, underpay (to which i have done), have payment holidays of up to six months, and the mortgage is portable too so if i decide to move and the house is off the same value all i need to do is find a buyer for my house and thats it, i do not have lots of paperwork to complete.

The staff at the estate agent also a halifax branch were great and that dealt with my case.

originally i was supposed to buy another house offered via the halifax estate agents but decided to pull out and saw this one instead. i thought that they would be sceptical and might not want to help but they were very very helpful.

i would recommend them everytime.

not negatives at the minute but the banking system hmmmm hats something else.
