Great customer service, UK call centres. (Halifax)

Advantages: Competetive rate, flexible, drop rates despite collar.

Disadvantages: I stil owe them over £100k!

We got a tracker mortgage with the Halifax in July 2008. It is BOE +0.68%. They have been fantastic with us, the purchase of the house was straightforward, the customer services when you call up are excellent, and their call centres are in the UK.
They have dropped our tracker rate with the BOE rate, despite a collar applying, so our mortgage has dropped by over £300 a month, which is fantastic for us.
We want to continue to overpay by this £300 a month, and all it took was a quick phone call to the Halifax to arrange this. On our mortgage you can overpay by up to 10% per year without incurring charges.
Our tracker deal ends in 2.5 years, when we go on to the standard variable rate. Halifax is keeping us informed about the standard variable rate changes, and we get regular communication from them when the interest rate changes.
We will definately be looking to keep our mortgage with Halifax when our current deal ends as long as they can keep their rates as competetive as they are now.

Summary: All in all they make purchasing a house a more pleasant experience.
