When I wanted some xtra help (Halifax)

Advantages: Decent fixed rate

Disadvantages: Poor service, slow and unresponsive

I remortgaged recently to the Halifax via their internet service. This was a little quirky but quite easy to use but infinitely better than the service received.
Unfortunately, they have 'Customer Service Centres' at which it was impossible for anyone to track my application. It took over 8 weeks to process a simple re-mortgage on a very straight forward proposal.
My bank statements and P60 were lost during processing.
The final straw was on completion when the solicitors sent me a cheque for the mortgage balance instead of to my previous lender. This cost me an extra months interest but it took the Halifax almost 6 weeks to rectify this and recompense me the extra interest (no other compensation was paid and they tried to blame my bank for the error).
I would not have stayed with them had the fixed rate not been so good and will look to remortgage at the end of the fixed term period.
