Advantages: Full of advice, Friendly and willing to Listen , Understanding
Disadvantages: None, as, yet
I've been looking aroung the opinions for mortgage providers now for some time while deciding who to go with to purchase my first property, and in the end decided because I already bank with the HSBC and with their new Homestart mortgage product I would go with them (even though I've seen no reviews on here for them, buy hey no news is good news, right ?) Well so far it looks like I've made a good decision, granted I've yet to reach completion and actually start repayments yet, but compared to some of the other companys I have approached for rates they have been excemploary. 1st, I call into my works local branch (I live away from where I want to buy) to ask to speak to someone about mortgages a meeting is quickly arranged with a mortgage councellor who talks me through the various different products offered and explains the whole home buying process to me and gives me a figure which she feels the bank will be happy to lend me and advises me that their is a new product comming out in the near future which might be more suited to my needs, and suggests that I may want to wait a little. 2nd, while back home, I pop into my local branch a few months later to speak to someone as I am now ready to start looking for homes, I am quickly given an apointment with the financial planning manager who gives me a full review, advises me on what package he feels will be most suitable for me and on the same day gives me an agreement in principle to buy (I'm by this point very impressed as one other bank who will remain nameless, the hellefax took 2 weeks to get to this point!!! after spending 14 days hounding me to switch all my banking to them!!!) I decide to go with HSBC and arrange a 2nd meeting with the financial planning manager, who takes me though the application painlessly and as an incentive to take out aditional life cover I am given a free will and 12 months personal accident cover. I must say, even though
I have not completed the whole process, upto this point I have been most happy and feel completly vindicated in deciding to use HSBC (I'll update later after the purchase has gone ahead and I've been paying for a while to let you know how the service has been post completion) although with the helpfullness and willingness to listen and understand that they have shown over the last 6 years I'm pretty sure that my coments will continue to be favorable. If your a first time buyer, or even if your not I recomend that you have a look for a completly painfree and uncomplecated mortgage look no further...

- 02/07/01 Welcome and well done on your first op. I too was quite surprised that you`re the first to write on this item, particularly as my experience of HSBC in general hasn`t been very good. |

- 01/07/01 Welcome to Dooyoo. I couldn't VU as I feel the op needs a couple of years before you can talk about repayments, etc. Still a good first op though. Ben |
