Advantages: Respond quickly to rate cuts, decent customer service

Disadvantages: None

I bought my first house last year and, acting on advice from my financial advisor, decided to get a flexible mortgage from Nationwide. They had the best rates at the time, and it only took a few clicks from my financial advisor for everything to be organised.

Perhaps "haven't got anything wrong yet" shouldn't be such an outstanding quality, but in a world filled with incompetant companies, one that does okay actually stands out. My monthly direct debits have come out without any problems or mistakes. The one time I did have a question I called Customer Service and got through quickly, resolving my request without an issye (I just wanted a copy of my house deeds).

More impressively, they've responded quickly to the recent rate cuts. I feared that they would ignore the cuts and keep my rates high, but I've received a letter within a week of each cut, confirming that my payments will be coming down.

Summary: Basically competant, no issues
