The Hanley Building Society is named after the town in Stoke on Trent, Hanley and has been a favourite with the people of Stoke on Trent for as long as it has been established. I have been banking with them for as long as i can remember and were my first option when I came to buy my first property and my family have always used this building society too.
Building itself up over the years and now having a purpose built head office, the Hanley has a branch network of 5 branches across Stoke on Trent and have entered into Stone, Staffordshire.
When I first went to the Hanley for my mortgage, I had been to other lenders however found them more useful in comparison. I felt that they had a more ethical approach and more sensitive to the needs of people and during my initial meeting I was in there for over one and half hours in which they went through the various option thats were available to us.
Going for the best option which was a fixed rate mortgage when they arranged this when I was buying the property I found that they liased with my solicitors and the estate agent really well and I didn't really have to get involved to that extent. The deal that we had accepted also was really good and suited our income.
When I split up with my partner and I wanted to buy him out of the house, the Hanley couldn't have been more helpful and arranged my mortgage without any inconvenience and to an afforable amount that I could afford myself.
I have now been with them for overe 8 years and wouldn't think of moving to another company unless the price of mortgage went up to a substantial amount. I know there are probably better deals out there but if you can afford it I feel that customer service counts for more and a company that will do anything for you is a much better company to deal with rather than a multi national company that doesn't really care less.
