Poor customer service (Woolwich)

Advantages: One good member of staff in one branch, None

Disadvantages: Poor service, Corporate stupidity, Slow to respond

The nature of financial services means that anyone motivated to review a service is probably up for a moan and im no exception.

The Woolwich have really let me down recently and i would find it hard to recommend them to anyone. I had a mortgage with them and when i moved i paid it up and took out a mortgage elsewhere.

They continued to take payments out of my account. I have been trying to reclaim over £800 now for two months and have got nowhere. The latest they tell me is that a cheque had been sent to the Midland Bank. Im not making this up but they honesly sent a cheque to a bank that hasnt existed for quite a while.

I asked them had they ever heard of HSBC. They said they had but im not sure if i believe them.

I would also say that their mortgage help line is poor. I rang one number. Got the usual 4 options. My option said that i needed to call another number. Have these people never considered redirecting calls automatically.

I would like a little bit of balance to this review and say that at least one member of the Branch staff I went into was very helpful. Its just the organisation she works for doesnt match her genuine ability to serve customers well.

Ive read some of the other ops and people are having a far harder time than I am. Mine seems rather a small complaint but Its made me feel better warning other poeple that the Woolwich are good at taking the money you owe them but not so good when its the other way.

My advice....stay away from Woolwich Morgages until they anounce a major rethink on customer service and can prove they have improved things.
