The board is supposed to give error messages through the headphone output, even when the graphics card was not installed I could not get any message to that effect. Premium Review Asus A7N8X Deluxe: One of the best (289 words)

Rating:

I purchased this motherboard after having always having cheap motherboards before which I was not happy with. The motherboard is ideal for the latest Athlon Processors including the Barton and the 400Mhz FSB variety. The overclocking ability, especially for the Barton processors is excellent as it automatically unlocks the multiplier and the front side bus to give you maximum control over the CPU and RAM speeds. As this board is an Nforce2 chipset, changing these settings does not affect any other components on the board. The board layout is generally very good but there is quite a few capacitors very close to the CPU socket making it difficult to ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A Great AMD Motherboard (204 words)

This was my first purchase of an Asus motherboard, previous motherboards having been Gigabyte or Abit. Firstly lets start with the layout of the board. Overall the layout is good and installation of components onto the board is simple, the RAM slots in particular are very well placed allowing easy access even with an AGP graphics card in place. My only gripe with this motherboard is the slight lack of space around the CPU itself, which limits the installation of a very large heatsink, possibly a detracting factor for potenial overclockers. The board is very well equipped with 3 DIMM slots,5 PCI slots, 4 firewire ports, 6 USB ports and a Serial ATA hard disk ...  Read the complete review
