Advantages: Fast and reliable

Disadvantages: dodgy soundcard support

I have read opinions and tests on this board and decided to use it in a system I was building for someone. Installing the 800MHz Athlon and all of the opther components was a breeze - as sadi before, it really is great having the jumperless design.

However, I was disappointed when the soundcard I'd installed refused to output any sound, despite the fact that there was no problems being reported in the Device Manager.

Looking in the discussion groups on Asus' site I found that I wasn't the only one with problems. All Soundblaster cards had the same problem with sound, regardless of on-board audio or not. My motherboard had no onboard sound and was the very latest release which provided support for Thunderbird processors.

Even stranger yet, I installed my own SB LIve value card and it worked! The problem card installed perfectly into my own machine, so it was definitely the motherboard to blame!

Apart from this very shoddy oversight, the board is fine, but I would not recommend it unles you want the on-board audio only version and do not want to upgrade to a true SoundBlaster card.
